A new tabloid cover story claiming Brad Pitt has "stopped" Angelina Jolie's supposed wedding was made up. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the fabricated report, and explain how it originated.

Last month, In Touch ran a cover story falsely alleging Jolie was "getting married" to a "wealthy Brit." The tabloid untruthfully claimed the actress had stunned Pitt with her plans to tie the knot with an unnamed "philanthropist business man" as soon as their divorce was settled. Gossip Cop, however, confirmed the report was a complete lie. Jolie wasn't planning to wed, let alone even dating.

Now a few weeks later, the gossip magazine is trying to get out of its lie. The new cover story dramatically announces, "Brad Stops Angelina's Wedding!" Continuing with its false premise that nuptials were in the works, the publication now asserts Jolie won't be able to move forward with the plans because her custody battle with Pitt is supposedly worse than ever. A so-called "family friend" asserts to the outlet the situation won't be "settled anytime soon, so Angelina can't get remarried as quickly as she wants."

"Brad is torpedoing the nuptials," maintains the tabloid's supposed source, who claims Pitt has "dug in his heels as far as custody goes, and it's turning Angelina's plans for a quickie wedding into a complete nightmare." The article goes on to allege that Jolie is "sabotaging herself" because she's pushing for sole custody, which Pitt is fighting. "The longer she bucks Brad, the longer it will take for her to marry again," contends the magazine's questionable tipster. As for Pitt, a purported "source" tells the publication that he may even try to get sole custody for himself "if he doesn't feel that Angie's new husband-to-be is suitable to enough to be around" their kids.

Tellingly, the outlet still doesn't identify this alleged groom, merely describing him as a would-be "activist husband." Of course, as Gossip Cop has already reported, this mystery man doesn't actually exist, at least in regards to Jolie. Simply put, In Touch made up a cover story about Jolie getting married, and now the tabloid has made up a cover story about her not getting married as an excuse for why no wedding is materializing.

The magazine is putting the blame on Pitt when it is the publication itself that created this fake wedding news in the first place. It's also pretty rich that the outlet is now insisting the estranged couple's divorce battle has no end in sight after previously claiming in a February cover story that Pitt had "won" custody from Jolie. The tabloid is continually forced to flip-flop and create new twists in its inaccurate saga because it clearly doesn't have real, reliable sources to share what's actually going on. And comically, its phony "sources" can't keep track of whether to refer to Jolie as "Angie" or "Angelina."

Gossip Cop, however, has real and reliable sources. So here's what's really going on: Pitt, an impeccable contact tells us, hasn't done anything to "stop" Jolie's wedding because there was no wedding in the works in the first place. And a rep exclusively tells Gossip Cop that the cover story is "ridiculous." The former couple does still need to finalize the custody arrangement, but that has no bearing on any nuptials since Jolie was never intending to wed a non-existent boyfriend. In Touch is just making up more fake news to cover up its previous fake news. Don't fall for it.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
