Reports are circulating that Brad Pitt's adopted sons Pax and Maddox posted tributes to their dad on Instagram in honor of his 55th birthday. Gossip Cop, however, has learned that the teenage boys don't have social media accounts. The fake birthday posts were fan-made.
On Tuesday, an Instagram account made to look like it belongs to Pitt's 15-year-old son Pax posted a throwback photo of the actor as a child, along with the caption, "Happy Birthday to this stud. Love you so much! Can't wait to see you later." A second Instagram account alleged to belong to 17-year-old Maddox featured a throwback photo of the boy with his father, along with the caption, "Happy Birthday to the coolest dad."
Both teens have reportedly had a complicated relationship with their father in the wake of his split from Angelina Jolie. In 2016, it was reported that the actress decided to file for divorce following an altercation between Pitt and Maddox on a private flight. The actor's relationship with Pax has also reportedly been strained amid the custody battle.
Outlets such as The Sun and The Daily Mail are wrongly reporting that both boys took to Instagram to wish their dad a happy birthday. The former outlet even stated, "The sweet posts put to bed speculation surrounding Brad's relationship with his adopted children." It would certainly be major news if Pax and Maddox broke their silence on social media, but that's simply not the case.
Gossip Cop checked in with separate sources close to both Pitt and Jolie, and we're told that their children aren't on social media. A mutual pal of ours and the actress says, "The kids don't have Instagram accounts. Those are all fan accounts that those reports are referencing." A Pitt confidante similarly assures us that the accounts are fake.
It's worth noting, both Instagram accounts have posts dating back to early 2015. The majority of the content on both pages are paparazzi photos that can be found online. If Pax and Maddox had truly been active on Instagram for more than three years, the media would be constantly monitoring and reporting about their posts. None of the reputable celebrity news outlets have ever referenced these accounts. That's because they don't actually belong to Pitt and Jolie's children.
It should be mentioned, reliable publications such as People and E! News reported that Pitt spent his birthday with his kids on Tuesday. These outlets, however, made no mention of Pax and Maddox giving their dad a shoutout on social media. Gossip Cop can confirm that Pitt's teen boys didn't post birthday tributes on Instagram.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
