A new report claiming Brad Pitt was admitted to rehab shortly after his split from Angelina Jolie is mostly inaccurate. Gossip Cop can exclusively clarify the situation.

The New York Post published an article on Monday purporting that the actor “went to VIP rehab” after his breakup. A seemingly unreliable source tells the newspaper that Pitt’s team “urged him to get help” at a private and upscale facility in Los Angeles designed for celebrities with substance abuse problems. The outlet goes on to claim Pitt stayed at a private residence where he attended therapy sessions, including “intense group and one-on-one programs to aid with recovery.”

But Gossip Cop looked into the story, and we’re told that much of it’s incorrect. Gossip Cop is assured by a trustworthy source close to Pitt, “He never went to rehab – inpatient or outpatient,” but instead undergoes “counseling.” The outlet’s account of the actor checking into a “VIP rehab” catered to A-listers is simply wrong.

As Gossip Cop reported, Pitt admitted in a recent GQ cover story that he had a drinking problem, but has now been sober for around six months. The actor added, “I just started therapy. I love it, I love it. I went through two therapists to get to the right one.” Pitt is indeed seeking help for his issues, but he was never living at any sort of treatment center.

It should be noted, Gossip Cop busted the New York Post last month for wrongly reporting that Pitt was flirting with Sienna Miller at a dinner party. At the time, a rep for Pitt exclusively told us the story was untrue, and Miller herself later called the claim “predictable and silly.” Shortly after these denials, the newspaper corrected the rumor it started.
