Is Brad Pitt so in "love" with Neri Oxman that he wants to shout from the rooftops and introduce her to his kids? Those are the strong claims that have been circulating over the last few days, but they're all based on a false premise. As Pitt's rep has already confirmed to Gossip Cop, he and Oxman are currently just friends.
But The Sun claims Pitt and Oxman have been "quietly dating" and "enjoying secret trysts across the U.S." for months. In the wake of his breakup with Angelina Jolie, the paper says the actor decided to look outside Hollywood for his next partner. A so-called "insider" is then quoted as claiming, "This has led to him falling for Neri. It is very much a meeting of minds first... Their chemistry is hot." It's further alleged Pitt believes the MIT professor is the "sexiest woman he's ever laid eyes on."
"Brad is besotted with Neri and cannot wait to shout their love from the rooftops," asserts the tabloid's supposed source. The outlet goes on to claim Pitt is ready to "take things up a gear" by having her meet his six children. Alleges the purported tipster, "Once the dust has officially settled on his and Angelina's marriage, he will absolutely want them to be introduced." Continues this questionable snitch, "Make no mistake, he is seeing this as a serious relationship. That will eventually mean she'll meet his kids, for sure."
But this story is filled with mistakes, all stemming from the main premise. As first correctly reported by Page Six, Pitt and the MIT professor's "friendship has not turned into romance." The star's spokesperson has repeatedly stressed to Gossip Cop how accurate that original article was.
In addition, a mutual pal of ours and Pitt's, who wasn't at liberty to speak on the record, insists that Pitt has "barely ever seen" Oxman, and is "hardly a fixture" at MIT or at her apartment, contrary to the newspaper's claims that he is a "regular" around campus and has a "key" to her residence. But don't just take our word for it. Consider that in a recent story about Pitt's life without Jolie, People reported that while the actor is casually exploring dating, "There hasn't been any talk about a special someone."
That's far different from the UK publication maintaining he's so "besotted" with Oxman that he wants to yell from rooftops. Furthermore, "Entertainment Tonight" is also reporting that Pitt and Oxman aren't dating, but notes friends would approve if they do one day embark on a romance. For now they haven't, and these claims about being in a "serious relationship" with Oxman don't even jive with The Sun's own past reporting.
Just last month, the paper claimed Pitt was planning to stay "celibate" for a year and wasn't interested in dating. The old and new contentions are on opposite ends the spectrum, but neither is actually right. The truth lies in the middle: Pitt is open to a new relationship, but he isn't currently in one with Oxman. Perhaps the tabloid should vow to stop writing about Pitt until it gets better "insiders" and starts fact-checking its stories.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
