Did Brad Pitt really hit on Margot Robbie at a pre-Oscar party earlier this month? One of the new tabloids claims the movie star has a major crush on the actress. Gossip Cop can exclusively set the record straight.
Both Pitt and Robbie attended the Gersh Oscar Party in Los Angeles on March 1, which has prompted NW to concoct a bogus story surrounding the stars. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "Brad was hovering near Margot and you could see he was just waiting to pounce and have a chat. When she was finally free, he [chatted] her up for ages. He only had eyes for her. He's smitten."
Gossip Cop, however, is told by a source close to the situation, who wasn't authorized to comment on the record, that the tabloid's account of events is entirely inaccurate. We're assured that Pitt didn't aggressively pursue the I, Tonya star at the Oscar bash, nor is he infatuated with her. Robbie is in talks to join Pitt in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, so it's possible the two discussed the project. However, there was nothing flirtatious about their conversation.
Additionally, NW has been falsely claiming for weeks that Pitt got back together with Jennifer Aniston following her split from Justin Theroux. Just last month, the unreliable magazine alleged that the ex-spouses were getting married again. The outlet fails to mention what happened to those supposed nuptials in this latest article about Robbie.
This also isn't the first time we've had to debunk bogus rumors about the movie star chasing after the I, Tonya actress. Gossip Cop recently called out a tabloid for falsely claiming Pitt has been "obsessed" with Robbie for years. That bogus article even wrongly contended that Angelina Jolie was upset about the actress making a cameo in Pitt's 2015 film, The Big Short.
Meanwhile, Gossip Cop has also busted various stories about Robbie's husband, Tom Ackerely, supposedly being jealous of her co-stars. Should the actress end up working alongside Pitt in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, there are bound to be more false reports surrounding the nature of their relationship. Gossip Cop, however, can confirm that Pitt wasn't all over the actress at the Oscar party they attended.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
