A tabloid claims Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie are on their way to becoming "Hollywood's hottest couple." The story is completely made-up. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
According to Star, the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood co-stars have been openly flirting, despite the actress being married to producer Tom Ackerley. A supposed source tells the magazine, "Brad and Margot are spending a ton of time together promoting their movie. And while producers are keen to play up their chemistry to boost the appeal of the flick, that's been no problem at all for Margot, who's been batting her eyes at Brad any chance she gets."
The alleged insider goes on to say that even though Pitt knows Robbie is married, he "certainly doesn't discourage her from being flirty." "There are rumors flying around that these two could be more than just friends," says the questionable tipster, adding that the co-stars "barely left each other's side" during a photo shoot for their film earlier this month.
The tabloid's report is complete fiction. For starters, the actress is happily married and frequently flaunts her relationship on social media. Just a few weeks ago, Robbie shared an Instagram video of her and Ackerley swimming in the ocean while on a romantic getaway. The actress's husband is also her producing partner and the two work closely beside each other.
Additionally, the magazine's article is based on claims from an anonymous and seemingly nonexistent "insider," but Gossip Cop checked in with Pitt's spokesperson, who tells us on the record it's nonsense. Despite what the outlet's so-called "source" says, the actor's rep assures us he hasn't been flirting with Robbie and they certainly aren't becoming a couple.
People magazine, a much more reliable source for celebrity news than Star, reported just last month that Pitt "is more focused on being a dad than on dating." The trusted publication further noted that the actor is currently "focused on what's best" for his kids. Stealing his married co-star from her husband simply isn't on the agenda.
Of course, the tabloid's narrative isn't original either. The gossip media has been trying to link Pitt and Robbie ever since it was announced they'd be working together on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Last year, Gossip Cop busted Star's sister publication, OK!, for falsely claiming Robbie's husband was worried about her "on-set chemistry" with Pitt. The actress later revealed in an interview that the two share very few scenes together. This latest article attempting to create a romance between the two stars is equally baseless.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
