Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio have been at the center of many phony tabloid stories since they started shooting their upcoming movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Gossip Cop has debunked several false reports about the co-stars. Here are five recent wrong rumors.
In November, Gossip Cop busted NW for falsely claiming that DiCaprio started dating Jennifer Aniston after Pitt introduced the two. The magazine contended that the reason the actress went to DiCaprio’s 44th birthday party last month is because they’re in a secret romance. That’s simply not the case. For starters, the idea that Pitt introduced his co-star to his ex-wife doesn’t make sense. Aniston’s close friend Portia de Rossi recently confirmed that the ex-spouses “haven’t seen each other” in quite some time. Regardless, a rep for Aniston told us on the record she’s not dating DiCaprio. In reality, DiCaprio is dating model Camila Morrone.
Gossip Cop called out OK! in October for wrongly reporting that Pitt and DiCaprio were feuding on the set of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The magazine alleged that Pitt felt threatened by his co-star, who “steals every single scene and leaves Brad feeling annoyed.” The outlet further alleged that the two won’t talk to each other when they’re not filming. Around the same time the phony story emerged, the Daily Mail posted photos of Pitt and DiCaprio sharing a laugh during a break from shooting. Additionally, a rep qualified to speak on Pitt’s behalf confirmed the co-stars get along well.
In August, Gossip Cop debunked a Star story about DiCaprio setting up Pitt with models. The publication claimed that DiCaprio was trying to find his co-star a girlfriend and even gave him permission to hook up with one of his exes. The premise was a work of fiction. “Entertainment Tonight,” a much more reliable celebrity news outlet than Star, noted at the time that Pitt had “taken a step away from dating” amid his custody battle with Angelina Jolie “because of the importance of his children.” The actor has remained single since.
Gossip Cop corrected Life & Style in July for alleging that DiCaprio called out Pitt for flirting with Margot Robbie on the set of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The report was provably false. Robbie’s first day of filming on the Quentin Tarantino movie took place just one day before the magazine published its made-up story. A spokesperson for Pitt later confirmed that he hadn’t started working with the actress yet. DiCaprio and Pitt never got into a rift over their leading lady.
And finally, Gossip Cop busted HollywoodLife in June for making up a story about Pitt and DiCaprio planning to double date during breaks from shooting their movie. A spokesperson for Pitt told us the story was nonsense, and further explained that he’d be spending the summer traveling back and forth from Los Angeles and London to spend time with his kids. Around the same time, “Entertainment Tonight” reported that Pitt was “choosing fatherhood over dating.” The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood co-stars never hit the town double dating.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
