Is Leonardo DiCaprio really "playing Cupid" for Brad Pitt? One of this week's tabloids claims the younger actor wants to set up his Once Upon a Time in Hollywood co-star with a supermodel. Gossip Cop can debunk the phony story. We're told it's all made-up.
According to Star, DiCaprio is encouraging Pitt to get back into the dating world now that he's legally single in his divorce from Angelina Jolie. "After everything Brad's been through, Leo wants his pal to find happiness," an alleged source tells the outlet, adding that the Titanic star's model girlfriend, Camila Morrone, has a lot of "stunning, intelligent" friends who would "jump at the chance" to date Pitt.
The publication's supposed insider further contends DiCaprio already has a double date in the works. "Leo and Camila set up a night out with Brad and his date in L.A.," says the questionable tipster. "Brad is up for it! He's got his groove back and is ready to have a little fun."
The tabloid's report is pure fantasy. Gossip Cop reached out to DiCaprio's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that the magazine's article is completely fabricated. Despite what the publication's anonymous "source" claims, a rep qualified to speak on DiCaprio's behalf confirms he's hasn't been playing matchmaker for his co-star.
People magazine, a much more reliable source for celebrity news than Star, recently reported Pitt "is more focused on being a dad than on dating." The outlet noted that despite the movie star's newly single status, his children remain his primary concern and he's putting romance on the back burner for the time being. Pitt's rep has confirmed this to Gossip Cop as well.
It's also worth noting that this isn't the first time the tabloid has pushed this bogus narrative. Back when Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was still in production last summer, Gossip Cop busted the magazine for falsely maintaining DiCaprio was setting up Pitt with models. The premise wasn't true last year, and it's no more accurate now.
Meanwhile, the gossip media doesn't seem to have a good grasp on the relationship between the two actors. Also last year, Gossip Cop corrected Star's sister publication, OK!, for wrongly reporting that Pitt and DiCaprio were feuding on the set of their movie. That story wasn't true either, but it shows how the tabloids can't seem to decide if the co-stars are friends or enemies. The short answer is they're pals, but DiCaprio hasn't involved himself in Pitt's love life.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
