Have Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s kids really been referring to their bodyguard as “dad”? One of this week’s new tabloids claims a security staffer is more involved in the children’s lives than their own father, but Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we’ve exclusively learned the truth.

An article in the latest issue of Star says that ever since Pitt and Jolie split last year, a bodyguard has been the one making dinner, helping with homework and playing games with the kids. A so-called “witness” tells the magazine, “Angie’s caught Vivienne and Knox saying ‘Hey dad!’ a few times, same with the older kids. Friends have overheard it too, and the weirdest part is, Angie didn’t correct them.”

The outlet’s dubious insider goes on to contend that Jolie is secretly happy her children have found a replacement father in a member of the security team, adding, “It’s just another example of Angelina taking the low road.” But Gossip Cop looked into this unlikely story and we’re exclusively assured it’s entirely “false.” A source close to the family tells us the Jolie-Pitt children don’t call their bodyguard “dad,” nor do they consider any family employee to be a substitute for their real father.

Unfortunately, the tabloids constantly manufacture fake stories surrounding the estranged spouses’ children, so this latest piece of fiction isn’t too surprising. Gossip Cop recently busted Star’s sister outlet, OK!, for making up a cover story all about Pitt’s “life with his kids,” but the details of the article were completely made up. In fact, that contradictory story featured a line about how the actor often “cooks for” the children, despite this latest report alleging the bodyguard has take on that responsibility. We also previously called out Star’s other sister publication, the National Enquirer, for wrongly reporting Jolie banned Pitt from having contact with the kids. This latest account of events is similarly fabricated.
