One of this week's tabloids claims a romance could be developing between Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts as they've been meeting up for dinner dates. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the bogus story. A rep for the actor tells us there's no truth to it.
"Is Julia Roberts about to go from Runaway Bride to runaway wife?" asks the latest issue of OK! According to the magazine, she and Pitt were recently spotted "arm in arm in the lobby of the Beverly Hills hotel." However, not a single other outlet has reported that the two were seen together at the establishment, nor are there any paparazzi pictures to back it up. Still, an alleged insider tells the magazine that Roberts' friends suspect her feelings for the actor "may be more than platonic."
The outlet's questionable source continues, "Julia says their dinner dates are nothing more than a friendly catching up, but it's hard to deny their amazing chemistry." The tipster further contends that Pitt and Roberts, who co-starred together in 2001's The Mexican, could have potentially became a couple years ago, "but the timing was never right for them to be anything more than friends, as one of them was always dating someone else."
Of course, the actress has been married to cinematographer Danny Moder for nearly 16 years, but the "source" insists that Pitt "is someone who really understands what it means to be a Hollywood royal in a way Danny can't." Be that as it may, Roberts isn't leaving her husband for the movie star.
The magazine story comes from an anonymous and untraceable "source," but Pitt's own spokesperson tells Gossip Cop on the record that he and Roberts haven't been meeting up for "dinner dates." Although it's true the movie stars have remained friendly over the years, there's no romance developing between the two. Pitt and Roberts haven't been photographed together since both attended a screening of Moonlight in 2016. If the high-profile stars were actually going out and dining together, it's nearly impossible that the paparazzi wouldn't have spotted them.
Meanwhile, Us Weekly published an article last month dedicated to Roberts and Moder's "solid, loving marriage." The report notes that the couple's secret to keeping their relationship strong is "always making time for each other" and being "hands-on parents" to their three young kids. The notion that the actress would consider tearing apart her family to date Pitt is simply false.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
