Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lawrence are not dating, despite a completely untrue tabloid cover story. The article dubs the two "Hollywood's hottest couple," but they're not together. Gossip Cop has exclusively learned the truth.
"J. Law & Brad: It's On!" declares the cover of this week's Star. The accompanying story contends that the actor and actress struck up a romance shortly after her split from director Darren Aronofsky last month. A so-called "source" tells the magazine, "Brad has had his eye on Jennifer for years. [They] have been enjoying lots of late nights together. There's an intense connection between them!"
The outlet's dubious insider goes on to say that Pitt got Lawrence's phone number from a friend, and was "having a little trouble working up the nerve to call Jennifer, but one of her friends told him to go for it because he's been single long enough." The alleged source adds, "Brad has been nervous to date, but anyone who knows Jen thinks she's perfect." It should be noted, a true friend of the actress would probably just refer to her as either "Jen" or "Jennifer" instead of alternating between the two names.
"When they can't be together, they talk on the phone and send each other texts throughout the day," continues the seemingly phony source, who further purports that Lawrence is living in Los Angeles as opposed to New York "so she can be closer to Brad." The supposed insider adds, "Brad and Jennifer have both been unlucky in love, at least so far. They're both hoping for the real thing. All of their friends have their fingers crossed!"
The magazine's cover also teases Angelina Jolie's "furious reaction" to the supposed romance, but the inside story only says that her and Pitt's divorce "could get nasty again once she gets wind" of the (nonexistent) relationship. But Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Pitt, who laughed off all the publication's report before assuring us it's entirely "false." Also, a rep for Lawrence also confirms on the record that she's not dating the fellow movie star.
While it's true Lawrence met Pitt at the Oscars in 2014 with Jolie, as far as we can tell, that brief encounter was about the most substantive time the two have spent together. Unfortunately, the British tabloid the Daily Mail has already picked up and spread the bogus rumor. Sadly, Gossip Cop suspects more unreliable outlets will follow suit.
Unfortunately, this wouldn't be the first time that Star has wrongly linked the actor to a famous actress. Earlier this year, the tabloid ran a series of false stories claiming Pitt was dating Kate Hudson. At one point, the untrustworthy outlet even alleged that Hudson was pregnant with Pitt's baby. UPDATE: Lawrence herself later debunked the rumors she was dating Pitt.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
