Brad Pitt wanted to date Jennifer Lawrence? That was the premise behind a tabloid report from exactly one year ago today. Gossip Cop noted it was not true then, and it’s even more obvious today the claim was false.
On December 4, 2017, Woman’s Day published a story that maintained Pitt was hot for Lawrence, not only because he wanted to date her, but also to get under Angelina Jolie’s skin that he was with a younger, more in-demand actress. And luckily for Pitt, asserted the magazine, Lawrence has a thing for “older guys,” having dated director Darren Aronofsky, who was 22 years older than her. The article related how after getting Lawrence’s number, Pitt started blowing up her phone with text messages.
The outlet’s so-called “source” told the tabloid 12 months ago that the two were “getting to know each other,” and Lawrence felt special because she was getting Pitt’s “undivided attention.” Pitt was particularly excited about them becoming “Hollywood’s next big power couple,” contended its alleged tipster. At the time the magazine published its article, a mutual acquaintance of Gossip Cop and Pitt assured us the claims were not true, and clearly 365 days later, it’s apparent our impeccable insider was 100 percent right and the publication was just spewing a fictional narrative.
In addition to the obvious that Pitt and Lawrence never dated a year ago, there were big flaws with some of the tabloid’s claims. For instance, while the magazine said the actress was into Pitt because she likes “older guys,” the reason Lawrence and Aronofsky broke up was because of their nearly 22 year age difference. Meanwhile, the gap is even bigger with Pitt, who’s 27 years older than the Oscar-winner.
Since he and Jolie split in 2016, there have been a slew of Pitt dating rumors, linking him to everyone from Lawrence, Kate Hudson, and Sienna Miller to Ella Purnell, Neri Oxman, and even his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston. And while there were more dating rumors about Pitt, wrongly connecting him to Sandra Bullock, Elle Macpherson, and Halle Berry, among others, his focus throughout his custody battle was on his kids and not on making Jolie jealous.
In the year since that false report, Woman’s Day has further proven it doesn’t truly have Pitt sources. Four months after the Lawrence tale, for instance, Gossip Cop busted the unreliable outlet when it falsely claimed in a cover story that Aniston was pregnant with Pitt’s baby. And this past July we also corrected the tabloid when it wrongly alleged Pitt and Aniston secretly got married. Of course, to this day he’s still legally wed to Jolie.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
