One of this week's tabloids claims Brad Pitt wants Jennifer Garner to co-star with him a sequel to Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The story is completely fabricated. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
Earlier this week, NW falsely claimed that Pitt and Garner have been secretly dating for several months. The outlet also maintained that the two were meeting for hookups at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The story came from an anonymous and untraceable "source," but reps for both stars told Gossip Cop on the record they're not a couple.
In fact, the news emerged on Wednesday that Garner is dating CaliGroup CEO John Miller. Still, the unreliable magazine pretends to know how Pitt and Garner's so-called "romance" began. The tabloid's "insider" says the actor had "approached her about a film he'd like to do with her and they hit it off instantly."
According to the outlet, that film is a follow-up to the 2005 action-comedy Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which co-starred Pitt's estranged wife Angelina Jolie. Of course, the exes sparked a romance when they met on the set of that movie. The magazine speculates Jolie will be furious when she finds out that Pitt is dating Garner, and even more incensed to learn he's making a Mr. & Mrs. Smith sequel with her.
The tabloid's entire article is based on the false premise that Pitt and Garner started dating after meeting up to discuss a film project. Of course, no meeting took place and the two aren't seeing each other. It goes without saying, but the movie stars aren't teaming up for Mr. & Mrs. Smith 2.
It should be noted, NW has come up with many phony angles surrounding Pitt and Garner's nonexistent relationship. Gossip Cop also busted the tabloid for alleging that Garner was leaning on Pitt amid Ben Affleck's struggle with sobriety. That storyline, like this latest one, was based on the false notion that the stars are dating, which they aren't.
It's worth mentioning, when a major movie goes into development, it's almost always one of the Hollywood trades that breaks the news. Tabloids, on the other hand, have been known to come up with imaginary film projects, especially nonexistent sequels.
Also, Pitt and Garner both have several projects lined up already. The actor is currently shooting Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and is expected to begin filming a World War Z sequel next year. Meanwhile, the actress is gearing up to star in the Netflix comedy Yes Day. Mr. & Mrs. Smith 2 isn't being added to their filmographies.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
