Are Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston going to produce their own California wine? That was the claim from one of the tabloids exactly one year ago today. At the time, Gossip Cop reported the story was not true, and it remains false to this day.

On March 20, 2018, New Idea asserted not only were Aniston and Pitt back together, but the magazine also quoted a so-called "source" as contending the two were going "produce their own Californian wine and champagne." The phony narrative was part of a larger story about how the two supposedly visited Napa Valley in California's "wine country" and decided to buy a $25 million "dream home" there, with "enough room" for all six of Pitt's children, as well as for "a nursery" for their future baby. The tabloid's alleged "source" further absurdly maintained Aniston imagined "entertaining friends and sitting on the porch with Brad, watching the sun set."

It's clear 365 days later that none of the story was true. As Gossip Cop noted last year, Pitt and Aniston never reunited romantically nor did they visit Napa Valley together. Consequently, they didn't buy a $25 million "dream house" with room for his six kids and a "nursery" for the baby they're not having together. Nor are they going to make their own wine. Curiously, as we pointed out then, the magazine made no mention of the fact that Pitt is already in the wine business with his and Angelina Jolie's Chateau Miraval vineyard in France.

New Idea doesn't have a stellar record when it comes to reporting about the ex spouses, as evidenced by some of the articles it published before and after its inaccurate tale about Pitt and Aniston buying a home together in Napa Valley. Just days before that story, Gossip Cop busted the same magazine when it wrongly claimed Pitt and Aniston were going on "double dates" with George Clooney and his wife Amal. While the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood actor stopped by Aniston's 50th birthday party last month, he and his ex-wife are not dating or going on dates with the Clooneys or anyone else.

And on the subject of her milestone celebration, the tabloid ridiculously reported days afterwards that Aniston and Pitt got married at her birthday party. Of course, Pitt is still legally married to Jolie. Despite how obviously false the tale was, Gossip Cop checked in with Aniston's rep, who assured us the article was a complete "fabrication."

As Gossip Cop has mentioned before, we revisit articles from time to time to show how claims have held up. Far too often, though, that particular tabloid has proven to be an unreliable source of information about Pitt and Aniston. The least the outlet could've done in the intervening months since it alleged the former "Friends" star and her ex-husband were going to produce wine is update its story with a correction, but it didn't.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
