Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston aren't back together, but one of the tabloids claims the two are "starting over" after the actor made a heartfelt apology for betraying her with Angelina Jolie. The story is total fiction. Gossip Cop can debunk it.

According to the National Enquirer, Pitt and Aniston have rekindled their romance after the actress opted to forgive her ex-husband for leaving her. "Brad broke down one day over the holidays and begged Jen to accept his undying apology. He told her he was a fool to have strayed in the first place, and by doing so he screwed up the best thing that ever happened to him."

The unknown insider continues, "Jen was incredibly moved by the sincerity Brad showed and she told him how much it meant to her that he'd finally seen how much pain and heartache he caused. But she also believes he's a changed man now, and that's why they're starting from square one to rebuild trust on a day-by-day basis."

The anonymous tipster also says that Aniston decided to forgive Pitt "because she thinks he's suffered enough" amid his divorce and custody battle with Jolie. The "source" claims the Friends star has "gotten a bizarre form of closure from seeing [Pitt] suffer," but now she's ready to give their romance another shot.

The magazine's article is based on the word of an unidentified "insider," but Aniston's own spokesperson is going on the record to refute it. The actress's rep, who's qualified to speak on her behalf, confirms she's not back together with Pitt. The story doesn't make much sense either. Pitt attended Aniston's 50th birthday party back in February of last year. The ex-spouses have been on friendly terms for quite some time. How could there have been a first time apology over the holidays? The exes have already moved on from their past issues. They've also moved on in the form of friendship, not romance.

Of course, this wouldn't be the first time the Enquirer has roped the three stars into a phony story. Last year, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Jolie was heavily drinking because Pitt and Aniston were meeting up behind her back. That report was totally fabricated.

Back in 2018, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for making up a story about Jolie being "heartbroken" over Pitt and Aniston getting back together. The tabloid keeps recycling similar versions of this narrative, and the timeframes don't seem to add up. That's because it's all nonsense.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
