As widely reported, Brad Pitt attended Jennifer Aniston‘s 50th birthday party in Los Angeles over the weekend. One of this week’s tabloids, however, claims Aniston had an intimate pre-birthday dinner with a group of her closest friends that Pitt crashed. Gossip Cop has learned the story is made-up.
According to New Idea, prior to Aniston’s party at the Sunset Tower Hotel on Saturday, her friends Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi arranged a dinner at West Hollywood’s Soho House for just her and 12 friends. A supposed source tells the magazine that during the low-key meal, “Brad walked over to the table and Jen nearly fell off her chair when she realized it was him – bursting out in tears and it was clear all the emotions of the past few months had finally come to a head.”
The “insider” further contends Pitt explained to the group he was at the private club for an early dinner meeting with his manager, but knew Aniston would be there and wanted to surprise her. “Ellen seemed hesitant about him joining them, but Jen gave her a nod to indicate it was OK and Brad pulled up a chair next to Jen where he sat and laughed with the group for a good hour,” adds the suspicious tipster, who goes on to say that Pitt ordered desserts and margaritas for the table.
The outlet’s story is coming from an anonymous “source,” but Gossip Cop reached out to Pitt’s spokesperson, who tells us on the record that the didn’t crash a small pre-birthday dinner for Aniston. We also ran the report by a mutual pal of ours and DeGeneres, who tells us that she and de Rossi never hosted a pre-birthday dinner at Soho House. It bears mentioning that no legitimate publications or websites have run anything about this supposed public meal, the date of which the tabloid also glaringly omitted. And the reason is that the article is nothing more than a work of fiction.
It’s also worth noting how New Idea seems to come up with new narratives as it goes along. Just a few weeks ago, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Pitt had “dumped” Aniston for Charlize Theron. The actor and his estranged wife were never back together, and he’s not dating Theron either.
This past December, the magazine made up a story about Aniston spending Christmas with Pitt and his six kids. Shortly prior to that, the unreliable outlet maintained that Pitt planned to propose to Aniston. Pitt was in fact a guest at his estranged wife’s 50th birthday bash, but he never made an impromptu visit to a pre-birthday dinner for the actress.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
