A tabloid claims Brad Pitt has proposed to Jennifer Aniston in the lead-up to Christmas. Nothing about the story is remotely factual. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
The cover of this week's NW reads, "Brad & Jen: Engaged At Christmas!" Christmas isn't for another week, but the article inside the magazine says Pitt proposed to Aniston with a diamond ring in preparation of the holiday. According to the unreliable outlet, the ex-spouses started rekindling their romance after the actor stopped by his ex-wife's 50th birthday party in February.
For some bizarre reason, the magazine makes Pitt's 13-year-old daughter Shiloh a major part of its phony article. An alleged insider says the young girl helped her dad pick out an engagement ring for Aniston. "It was Shiloh who suggested he should marry Jen again," adds the anonymous source. "It was a very emotional realization for both Brad and Shiloh that he needed to let himself love again. They went shopping for a ring together. Shiloh seems excited to welcome Jen into her family."
Not only have spokespeople for both stars told us countless times that they're not back together, but both Pitt and Aniston have said in recent interviews that they're single. Pitt told the New York Times last week that none of the dating rumors following his split from Angelina Jolie have been true. Aniston said on The Howard Stern Show in October that she's not dating and is "very, very busy" with work.
Still, Gossip Cop reached out to Aniston's spokesperson, who tells us this latest article is "fabricated." It should be noted, the ex-spouses are on friendly terms. Pitt even attended Aniston's Christmas party over the weekend. However, they're not a couple again.
Meanwhile, NW's disregard for consistency is rather astounding. Less than a month ago, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Pitt was dating Alia Shawkat. One day before that, the outlet said Aniston was single and having a midlife crisis. In October, the publication insisted Aniston was dating Jon Hamm. Prior to that, the magazine made up a story about Pitt "betraying" Aniston with three other women. Now we're to believe they've been rekindling a romance since February and are getting married? None of this adds up.
With the recent news that Pitt attended Aniston's annual Christmas party, there are sure to be plenty of more rumors about the exes. As always, Gossip Cop will separate fact from fiction. The fact is that the two are pals who hang out socially on occasion. The fiction includes nearly everything else the tabloids write about them.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
