A tabloid claims Brad Pitt is buying back the home he once shared with Jennifer Aniston as a gift for their supposed “wedding.” Every aspect of the story is untrue. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
Last month, the Beverly Hills estate where the ex-spouses lived from 2001 to 2006 went up for sale. According to New Idea, Pitt put a in a $79 million offer to buy back the residence. A supposed source tells the magazine the actor “wants to make a gesture to Jen that would go beyond her wildest dreams,” and knew that purchasing the property where they lived as a married couple would do the trick.
“When Brad and Jen split, she said losing their dream home worsened the heartache of their divorce and it was one of her biggest regrets not buying Brad out,” adds the alleged insider, who further contends that Aniston started reminiscing about the house when she and Pitt supposedly got back together earlier this year. The questionable tipster goes on to say the actress was “in shock and floods of tears” when her ex revealed he bought back the house.
The suspicious source adds that Aniston is now planning to put her Bel Air home on the market “to rid herself of the memories of her broken marriage to Justin Theroux and look forward to the future with Brad.” As for their so-called “wedding,” it will supposedly take place this July in Mexico. Following the ceremony, the actress is looking forward to “making new memories with [Pitt] back in their home,” says the seemingly nonexistent insider.
Here’s what’s true about the tabloid’s story: the home that Pitt and Aniston once shared is up for sale. Here’s what’s false: everything else. The ex-spouses haven’t reconciled, as separate reps for both stars have stated on the record several times. The pair briefly reunited at the actress’s 50th birthday party in February, but they’re not back together and most certainly aren’t getting married again. Other reputable outlets, including E! News, have also confirmed that Pitt and Aniston “definitely aren’t dating or on that path.”
Despite the tabloid’s report being predicated on a false premise, Gossip Cop still checked in with a source close to Pitt, who confirms he’s not buying back his old Beverly Hills home. We busted New Idea last week for falsely claiming Pitt and Aniston would be getting married again now that he’s been declared legally single in his divorce from Angelina Jolie. That phony article was about the exes planning “an intimate beach ceremony” in Mexico. The narrative wasn’t true, but the magazine has still written a bogus follow-up story about where the two plan to live afterwards.
Not only is this ongoing saga fiction, but the tabloid also claimed back in February that Pitt and Aniston had gotten married at her 50th birthday party. The unreliable outlet either forget that storyline or decided to pursue a new, equally fictitious one.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
