Did Brad Pitt really make a "heartfelt toast" at Jennifer Aniston's 50th birthday party earlier this month? That's the story one of this week's tabloids is trying to sell. Gossip Cop looked into the situation, and we've learned the truth.
According to NW, Pitt shocked guests at his ex-wife's birthday party when he decided to pay an impromptu tribute to her. A supposed source tells the magazine, "Apparently, Brad and Jen were chatting with some of their mutual friends when he explained that he'd like to say a few words. He's totally off the booze, but he raised his glass of water [and] told her that she meant a lot to him and always would."
The alleged insider continues, "Jen was totally taken aback and really touched. She looked as though she might cry because it was such a sweet gesture." The questionable tipster goes on to say there's a possibility the ex-spouses will get back together following the party as they supposedly met up after the event ended. "The timing wasn't right for Brad and Jen before, but they're not the same people they were when they married," adds the seemingly phony source.
The tabloid's account of events simply never occurred. Gossip Cop reached out to Aniston's spokesperson, who tells us on the record the story is "fabricated." Despite what the magazine's untraceable "insider" claims, a rep qualified to speak on the actress's behalf confirms her ex-husband never made a toast at her birthday party. We're further assured the exes never met up following the bash.
In fact, "Entertainment Tonight" reported that Pitt didn't stay at Aniston's party for very long. "He came to support her, spoke to other friends of his that were there and headed out," noted the TV show. Meanwhile, People magazine said Aniston "didn't really pay any special attention" to Pitt, but the exes chatted for a bit before mingling with other guests. Not a single reputable outlet has said anything about Pitt making a surprise speech at the party. That made-up scenario can only be found in the pages of NW.
Of course, it's hardly a surprise to see the magazine printing nonsense about the recent reunion between the exes. This is the same tabloid that Gossip Cop busted last year for claiming Pitt and Aniston had gotten married again in Paris. That absurd narrative is glaringly omitted in its latest article.
Additionally, a few months ago the outlet wrongly reported that Aniston was secretly dating Leonardo DiCaprio after being introduced to him by Pitt. And for his part, the publication inaccurately asserted Pitt was dating Jennifer Garner. Neither of those untrue premises were mentioned either in this current article. The unreliable magazine simply comes up with new storylines on a whim.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
