Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston did not need to prepare for an "ugly showdown" with Angelina Jolie, despite a report from exactly one year ago today. At the time, a tabloid alleged Aniston and Pitt were going to "debut" that they were back together while attending an Oscars party, but feared they would have a "run-in" with his estranged wife. Gossip Cop noted then it was untrue, and of course a full year has passed and Aniston and Pitt are still not together, nor did they attend any Academy Awards parties with one another in 2018 or in 2019.
On March 3, 2018, NW claimed there was a good chance Jolie would have a "run-in" with Pitt and Aniston. While Pitt attended Aniston's 50th birthday party this past February, they were not a "reunited couple" 12 months ago, as alleged by the tabloid. (Nor are they getting back together now.) Still, the magazine said its information came from a "close friend," who maintained Aniston and Pitt were "preparing for an ugly showdown" at one of the Oscar parties. The supposed "insider" added how Aniston and Pitt were "going to do what they want to do," and were going to pay no attention to "Angelina and her temper" should they come face-to-face with her.
Of course, as mentioned above, Aniston and Pitt are not a couple, and they didn't attend any Academy Awards parties together in 2018, as contended 365 days ago, nor were they together at any Oscars bashes a week ago. What's more, Jolie didn't go to any either. At the time, insiders in both their camps assured us it was all untrue, and naturally time has shown Pitt and Aniston did not make a public debut as a"reunited couple" at the Oscars.
The truth is, while the "Former" friends star has acknowledged in the past that she and her ex husband stay in touch, they are not rekindling. In fact, when reporting about Pitt attending Aniston's birthday party last month, E! News made a point of stating how "they're friendly, but that's it."Gossip Cop understands the fantasy behind tales about Pitt and Aniston again becoming Hollywood's favorite "golden couple, but it's just not reality.
In the year since that phony story about Pitt and Aniston being prepared for an "ugly showdown" with Jolie, NW hasn't gotten any more accurate with its articles about them. Just last week, for example, Gossip Cop busted the publication when it falsely asserted Aniston was bonding again with Pitt's mom Jane. Her rep went on the record with us to call it "nonsense."
Just a few weeks before that, the unreliable magazine forgot its year-long claim about the actor dating Aniston, and published a wholly fictitious cover story about how Jolie warned Charlize Theron to stay away from Pitt and their kids. While Gossip Cop rightfully reported Pitt and the South African actress were not dating, and later Theron herself said on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" that she's not involved with anyone, that tabloid pushed the bogus premise about the two blond stars being a couple.
As for the Oscar-winning actress, in the past year the same magazine has wrongly claimed Jolie was dating Keanu Reeves, as well as pursued Sean Penn, Princess Diana's nephew and David Beckham. As Gossip Cop has stated before, we occasionally revisit articles from a year ago to see how they've held up over time. The purpose is to teach visitors about which outlets are accurate and which publish falsehoods. It should be abundantly clear that NW has no expertise, authority, or trustworthiness when its comes to reporting about Pitt, Aniston and Jolie.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
