Brad Pitt did not prevent George Clooney from getting a role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, despite a false report claiming there’s a major war between the two stars. Gossip Cop can debunk the story. There’s simply no truth to it.

According to New Idea, Quentin Tarantino initially wanted Clooney to co-star alongside Pitt in his latest movie, but Pitt put a stop to it due to a “long-running feud” between them. A supposed source tells the magazine, “It’s a real shame because they used to be so close.”

Pitt and Clooney co-starred together in the Ocean’s Eleven franchise and Burn After Reading, but Leonardo DiCaprio shares the screen with Pitt in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The outlet contends that Clooney is “feeling left out now that Brad and Leo are the new dream team.” The alleged insider goes on to assert Clooney got particularly upset after seeing photos of the two actors celebrating their movie on the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival.

The unreliable magazine doesn’t bother to elaborate on what caused the supposed “falling out” between Pitt and Clooney, except to suggest that Angelina Jolie might have blocked their friendship. The tabloid, however, doesn’t mention what the actress’s motive would be for doing so. Regardless, this idea that Pitt prevented his former co-star from reuniting with him simply isn’t accurate.

Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who tells us Clooney was never in the running for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. DiCaprio was always the first choice for the film, in which he plays an actor and Pitt plays his stunt double. At one point in the casting process, Tom Cruise was being considered for the role that eventually went to Pitt, but Clooney had never circled the project. Trusted insiders further assure us there isn’t any sort of feud between the Ocean’s Eleven co-stars.

It’s worth noting, New Idea claims the two movie stars have been battling for several years, but Gossip Cop busted the tabloid in June 2018 for falsely claiming Clooney threw a “custody party” for Pitt to celebrate him “winning back” his children. Of course, Jolie still has primary custody of their six kids, so the party  premise was clearly untrue. More significantly, the new story’s narrative about Pitt and Clooney being on the outs for years contradicts the notion of the “Catch-22” director hosting a custody bash for the other movie star.

In March of last year, Gossip Cop also called out the publication for wrongly reporting Clooney had gotten Pitt back together with Jennifer Aniston. Pitt hasn’t rekindled a romance with his ex-wife, and his former co-star never orchestrated the imaginary reconciliation. This latest article surrounding the casting of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is more fiction.
