A new tabloid report claiming Brad Pitt's friends are trying to set up with famous women is made-up. The contenders are said to include Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron, Emilia Clarke and Kristen Wiig, but there's no truth or proof to the tabloid's story. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this phony report.
According to Life & Style, the actor's friends and colleagues are working hard to find him a celebrity girlfriend. A so-called "source" tells the magazine, "His manager and some producer pals are actively playing matchmaker. They've put together a list of potential partners to zero in on someone who's not only gorgeous but his intellectual equal."
One supposed candidate is Lawrence because she's "talented, smart, fun and infatuated with Brad." As for Theron, the "insider" contends that she has a lot in common with Pitt, seeing as they're both Oscar winners with adopted children. Meanwhile, the actor bid $120,000 at a charity auction earlier this year to watch an episode of "Game of Thrones" with Clarke, so now she's supposedly in the mix. And finally, Wiig is being considered because she shares Pitt's fondness for art.
Gossip Cop, however, has learned this narrative is inaccurate. A source close to Pitt, who spoke to us on background, notes "his friends want him to be happy," but the magazine's account is "wrong," adding that in the scheme of falsehoods being written about the actor these days, it's hardly the most "egregious." And while it's not unreasonable to believe Pitt's pals would try to introduce him to women, they haven't mobilized to compile and hand him a list of famous starlets to consider.
In fact, "Entertainment Tonight" reported last month that Pitt is casually dating, but "the women he sees are not in the public eye." In other words, he isn't pursuing A-list actresses. An insider told the highly regarded TV show that Pitt wants to keep his love life "very private," so the idea he's looking to jump into another high-profile Hollywood romance seems extremely unlikely.
Meanwhile, E! News published a story on Tuesday about why Pitt is looking to follow in George Clooney's footsteps and find a partner "who couldn't be less Hollywood." The reputable outlet asserts it's probable the actor is "looking for someone who doesn't have any real use for the Hollywood scene." E! also recently noted it's "complicated for [Pitt] to date," which is why it wouldn't make sense for him to make it more difficult by being seen with a celebrity girlfriend. And his previous forays down that road in dating, as well as marriage, have not worked out.
It's also worth mentioning that Gossip Cop called out Life & Style last year for falsely maintaining Pitt got back together with Angelina Jolie. Of course that was provably wrong and, much like this new tale, also based on information from a supposed "friend" of Pitt. This latest article surrounding his lineup of famous women to date is similarly wrong.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
