The cover of one of this week’s tabloids alleges Brad Pitt recently asked Angelina Jolie for full custody of their children, sparking a “new war” between the estranged spouses. Gossip Cop looked into this story, and we’ve exclusively learned he didn’t say he’ll “raise the kids.”
Back when the ex-couple separated in September 2016, it appeared as if they were gearing up for a heated custody battle over their six children. Following an incident aboard a private plane between Pitt and his 15-year-old Maddox, Jolie left the actor and he was subsequently investigated by Child Services. In the months that followed, he was cleared by the agency and got sober.
Pitt admitted in a GQ cover story this past May that he and his estranged wife are avoiding a legal battle over their children, further noting, “We’ve been able to work together to sort this out.” The actress herself said in a BBC interview they will “hopefully be a stronger family” when all is settled. But a supposed “family friend” now tells Life & Style that the exes “are back at square one when it comes to battling over custody of their kids.”
The outlet’s alleged insider says Pitt recently visited Jolie at her home and told her, “I’ll raise the kids” because he “believes the kids are better off being watched by him in LA rather than traveling the globe with Angelina.” The questionable source adds, “Angie listened to the pitch, but she was livid at his suggestion. She said he was clueless and delusional.”
The magazine’s seemingly phony insider continues, “Angie got mad that Brad was even proposing being a full-time dad, because this is what she had been asking for during the marriage.” The “source” further contends Pitt isn’t backing down and told his estranged wife she’s “being completely unreasonable,” but Jolie has vowed to “make sure she’s the primary caregiver.”
Gossip Cop, however, checked in with a source close to Pitt, who exclusively assures us he never asked for full custody of the children, and the tabloid’s tale is simply “false.” A mutual pal of ours and Jolie similarly tells us there’s no custody war in the works. This is simply a non-story.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Life & Style has fabricated a report involving the estranged spouses and their children. Gossip Cop previously called out the magazine when it falsely claimed Jolie was forced to “hand over” the kids to Pitt. We also debunked the outlet’s phony story about Jolie seeking sole custody of the children for fear they would be placed in foster care. The tabloid’s latest cover is equally untrue.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
