Brad Pitt and Charlize Theron are still not dating, despite inaccurate reports making the rounds. Gossip Cop can debunk these romance rumors once more. We've again learned the two movie stars aren't a couple.
On Sunday, the Sun published an article claiming Pitt and Theron "have been casually seeing each other for nearly a month" after being introduced by her ex-boyfriend Sean Penn. An alleged source told the outlet the two stars met up last weekend at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, where "they were ridiculously touchy-feely and his arm was around her back. At one point he winked at her."
The Sun's story was picked up by several outlets, but none of those publications were able to verify whether or not Pitt and Theron are actually an item. The majority of the outlets that ran the story simply regurgitated what was already printed. Gossip Cop, however, checked in with a source close to Pitt, who wasn't able to speak on the record, but assures us he's not dating Theron. The two movie stars met last year while shooting an ad for the watch brand Breitling, but they're not romantically involved and weren't introduced by Penn.
People magazine, a much more reliable celebrity news publication than the Sun, has similarly confirmed that the dating rumors are untrue. The publication noted Pitt and Theron met while shooting a commercial six months ago, but "they have not been out together recently, and were never dating. Reports of them being involved romantically are false."
This narrative linking Pitt to Theron isn't even new. Back in April 2018, Life & Style floated the premise in a piece about how Pitt's friends wanted him to date Theron, Jennifer Lawrence, Emilia Clarke or Kristen Wiig. In that article, which Gossip Cop busted, it was maintained Theron was in the running to be his girlfriend because both she and Pitt are Oscar-winners with adopted children.
Back in October, Gossip Cop corrected the tabloid's sister publication, Star, when it falsely asserted Pitt and Theron were secretly dating for at least a year. According to that tall tale, the two stars were having "secret hookups" all around the world. The magazine's seemingly made-up source was quoted as saying, Pitt was "smitten" and "their chemistry together is sizzling hot." At the time, however, Pitt's rep told us the entire story was 100 percent untrue.
One week later, the Australian edition of OK! similarly declared on its cover that Pitt and Theron were dating and in a secret romance (see below). In that fictitious report, yet another anonymous and almost assuredly fabricated source exclaimed that Theron and Pitt were in "a very passionate romance!" While none of the aforementioned outlets, including the Sun, are that passionate about fact-checking, thankfully Gossip Cop is.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
