One of this week's tabloids claims Brad Pitt and Charlize Theron have been secretly dating for a long time. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the romance rumors. We've learned the movie stars aren't a couple.
According to Star, Pitt and Theron have spent the past year meeting around the globe for "secret hookups." An alleged insider tells the magazine, "They meet up at luxury hotel suites around the world - London, Paris, even Beverly Hills - for dates... It's given them time to get to know each other away from the spotlight."
The "source" goes on to say the main reason Pitt won't go public with the romance is because he fears Angelina Jolie will find a way to use it against him in their custody battle. "He's been trying to keep it quiet for as long as possible," adds the supposed tipster. "It's not easy though - he's smitten and wants the world to hear about it."
As for what the two have in common, "they talk about art and architecture and their kids," says the suspicious insider, who further contends that Pitt admires the actress for adopting two children from a foreign country. The so-called "source" concludes, "So not only does Brad really respect Charlize, but their chemistry together is sizzling hot!"
The tabloid's report is based on claims from an anonymous and seemingly nonexistent "insider," but Gossip Cop checked in with Pitt's rep, who laughed off the story. It's likely the magazine decided to link the stars because they're both single parents of adopted children. Despite what the outlet's untraceable "source" says, a spokesperson qualified to speak on Pitt's behalf confirms he's not dating Theron.
Meanwhile, the magazine's assertion that the stars have been dating for at least a year doesn't pan out. In April, Theron said she was single and had no interest in dating. The actress told Hello magazine that her friends sometimes try to set her up on dates, but it "feels like more work than something I would really enjoy." She added, "I think I'll have to change that mindset before I start dating again."
It should also be mentioned, Star isn't even consistent when it comes to creating bogus premises. Just last week, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for making up a story about Pitt dumping Jennifer Aniston for spiritual healer Sat Hari Khalsa. Nothing about that article was true either, but now we're to believe he's actually been dating Theron this whole time? It's clear the unreliable magazine comes up with new narratives on a whim.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
