Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are not "consciously re-coupling," despite a new tabloid report. Gossip Cop can correct this claim. We're exclusively told it's a "complete and total fabrication."
According to a story published in the Daily Mail, Jolie has told friends that she and Pitt are "'consciously re-coupling' after intense rehab and spiritual counselling." The paper alleges that nearly two months ago, the estranged couple arrived unnoticed at a "modest three-bedroom house" in Beverly Hills in separate "blacked-out limousines" for a "face-to-face for the first time in ten months." The tabloid further claims the two immediately "collapsed into each other's arms."
In describing this so-called "emotional heart-to-heart" meeting, the paper's source contends, "There were a lot of tears... Right there and then in this very modest house... they decided to make a fresh start. It was a 'come to Jesus meeting' that marked the beginning of a new phase in their relationship." The tabloid's insider goes on to assert that in the presence of a "referee," they realized they "still loved each other and wanted to try again."
The source, who oddly alternates between calling Jolie both "Angie" and "Angelina," contends, "Angelina sees them as very much the new [Richard] Burton and [Elizabeth]Taylor. They can't live together but they can't live apart." "Angie believes everything started to go wrong after they tied the knot," notes the source, who adds the two stars "have even joked they are 'consciously re-coupling.'"
Next, the paper and its source enumerate the various ways both Pitt and Jolie plan to modify their lives in an effort to get back together. Its tipster then throws out as a possible motivation for reconciling that "their earning potential as a couple far exceeds their potential as individuals." Following that preposterous assertion about why they Pitt and Jolie might reunite is another the claim that "Hollywood loves a 'happily ever after' ending... and no one wants it more than Brad and Angie."
There's one problem with this story, Gossip Cop has been repeatedly assured that Pitt is not looking to reconcile. When a number of websites and tabloids last month wrongly maintained that Pitt and Jolie's divorce was "off" or was "not moving forward," we were told by an impeccable source close to the situation that it was all inaccurate. One insider even told Gossip Cop, "They aren't reconsidering anything."
It should be noted that the initial denials we received about Pitt and Jolie getting back together were from four weeks ago, a good three weeks after the supposed and unverified "face-to-face" took place in an undisclosed location that seemingly only the Daily Mail's source knows about. To say we were incredulous about the alleged meeting, where Pitt and Jolie purportedly "collapsed into each other's arms" and decided to "consciously re-couple," would be an understatement. Remember, just about a week before Brangelina's alleged "heart-to-heart" took place, the tabloid wrongly reported that Pitt was dating Sienna Miller.
Regardless, Gossip Cop went back to an actual insider, who swears up and down the latest article is a "complete and total fabrication." Once again we're assured, "They do deal with each other amicably for the kids, but they are not getting back together."
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
