Is Brad Pitt angry about Angelina Jolie's bodyguard supposedly "playing dad" with their six kids. That's the claim in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk it.
Last week, Jolie and three of her children were spotted grocery shopping at a Whole Foods in Los Angeles with a security guard accompanying them. According to Woman's Day, Pitt became infuriated after seeing the photos of the man on an outing with his kids. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "Brad knows Ange has every right to hire this guy, but it burns to see him playing dad with the kids."
The supposed source continues, "He's been apart from them for such a long time and figures they've probably connected in a pretty deep and meaningful way with the bodyguard, since they don't currently have a day-to-day father figure." The seemingly phony tipster goes on to say that Pitt is "worried because this guy is hugely important in [Jolie's] life and the children absolutely adore him too."
The magazine's story doesn't make much sense. In a recent article about the cost of the Jolie-Pitt kids' lifestyle, People noted the the brood has up to nine bodyguards looking after them. It's not as if the man pictured with Jolie and her kids at Whole Foods is their sole caretaker. The children also have several drivers, nannies, tutors and other staffers in their lives. The particular bodyguard spotted on the children's recent shopping trip isn't with them 24/7, nor has he taken on the role of their "father figure."
The tabloid's report is based on rumors from an anonymous and untraceable "insider," but Gossip Cop checked in with Pitt's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that the article is completely untrue. The movie star isn't jealous of any of the bodyguards who've been hired to keep his children safe. This is simply a non-issue.
Meanwhile, the publication has a long history of publishing lies about the estranged spouses. Gossip Cop busted the tabloid last month for falsely claiming that Pitt secretly married Jennifer Aniston again. Shortly before that, the unreliable magazine wrongly reported that Jolie was dating actor Ed Skrein, her co-star in Maleficent 2. In reality, the estranged spouses are both currently single and solely focused on their children and careers.
There has been a lot of drama surrounding Pitt and Jolie's divorce, including battles over custody and money. Woman's Day, however, is attempting to throw in a controversy that doesn't exist. Gossip Cop can confirm there's no bodyguard coming in between Pitt and his kids.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
