Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce and custody proceedings have not “stalled again,” despite a tabloid report. Not only is this an untrue take on what’s actually going on, but it’s a flip-flop from a prior story. Gossip Cop can debunk the new allegation and explain what’s going on.

Late last month, In Touch wrongly reported Pitt and Jolie were “very close” to finalizing their custody agreement, as well as their divorce. It was specifically alleged that the proceedings should end “sometime in February.” Gossip Cop, however, exclusively learned that nothing significant had changed to move the negotiations forward and there was not going to be any finalizing of a settlement in the near future. In fact, on the contrary, we were told on the background the situation was currently in a “holding pattern,” and time has proven we were right. Nothing was finalized, just like we were told nothing would be.

Now just a couple of weeks after our debunking, the gossip magazine is wrongly making it seem like something happened all of a sudden to derail the purported settlement plans. The outlet claims Brangelina was “just days away” from finalizing their custody agreement and divorce when “talks blew up at the last minute.” A so-called “insider” is quoted as saying, “Angelina reversed course when she felt Brad was pushing too hard to resolve the situation to his benefit.”

But Jolie never “reversed course.” In Touch did. After falsely claiming a settlement was on the horizon, the tabloid had to change gears when it became clear that wasn’t actually the case. Nothing actually “stalled again” with Jolie and Pitt. The magazine is only pretending that it did to cover up its previous misinformation.

Last week, Pitt and Jolie even told the courts they’re still working on a divorce settlement and asked for their case to be extended. However, the outlet is now twisting that to make it seem like the request was made after the actress abruptly pulled out of plans for a settlement. That’s not what happened. While it’s true the exes do “need more time to hash everything out,” neither Jolie nor Pitt recently did anything to necessitate a change at the “last minute.” Things were always headed in the direction of requiring an extension, despite what the publication wants readers to believe.

Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time the tabloid is distorting the truth as an excuse for its own misreporting. To get out of a made-up story last year about Jolie getting married again, the magazine manufactured a tale about Pitt stopping the (non-existent) wedding. That was just lies piled on top of lies, much like now. In both cases, the outlet spun a bogus narrative and then gave an explanation for why it wasn’t coming true. Unfortunately, In Touch only stepped it in further with more falsehoods.
