Brad Pitt never used custody negotiations to get back together with Angelina Jolie, contrary to a report from a year ago about the estranged spouses reconciling. Gossip Cop busted the untrue story 365 days ago, and time has proven our debunking was right. In fact, not only have the stars not reunited, but they haven’t even settled on a permanent custody agreement.
But on June 23, 2017, Gossip Cop investigated Life & Style when it alleged Pitt hoped that private talks with Jolie about custody would “create sparks between them again.” It was claimed the actor wanted to “resume their lives together” and have a “new beginning” with their six kids. An “insider” quoted by the tabloid, however, expressed concern that the actress was giving Pitt false hope in order to achieve a favorable divorce settlement, and predicted that “once he realizes that, it could send him spinning.” Lamented the supposed source, “[Brad] has blinders on when it comes to Angie.”
What was particularly strange about this report was that it came less than two months after the magazine published a cover story announcing Pitt and Jolie were “back together.” The outlet even claimed they were “secretly dating,” and declared the “rebirth of Brangelina.” Yet weeks later, this new article made no mention of that, and was only about them potentially rekindling a romance if Pitt got his wish. But neither narrative was accurate.
A few weeks ago, Gossip Cop pointed out that a full 12 months had passed since the publication falsely claimed Pitt and Jolie were “back together.” Now it’s been a year since the tabloid wrongly alleged Pitt was using custody talks to reunite. They remain estranged and their divorce is ongoing, with a judge even recently warning Jolie that she could lose primary custody of the children if she doesn’t help facilitate a relationship with their father.
Perhaps needless to say, neither star has expressed any interest in calling the breakup off. Indeed, as opposed to trying to win Jolie back, Pitt has been casually dating for months. Meanwhile, Life & Style has continued to spread falsehoods, such as claiming in May that Jolie and Pitt’s divorce has been held up due to a disagreement over Chateau Miraval. But as People had already reported, Pitt and Jolie are still making wine together and intend to keep the property in the family to benefit their kids. The divorce hold-up is due to their custody disagreements, and that’s part of why the couple will not be getting back together, despite what the tabloid has previously claimed.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
