“I’ll Name The Dogs” was released in September as the lead single from Shelton’s new album, Texoma Shore. Featured as the first track on the record, many have assumed the song was inspired by the country superstar’s relationship with Gwen Stefani. Shelton, however, did not write the lyrics, which are about a couple settling down. “You name the babies and I’ll name the dogs,” he sings.

Texoma Shore as a whole dropped in early November, placing fourth on the Billboard 200 and number one on the Top Country Albums chart. He celebrated the release with a surprise “Today” show concert, and also made appearances on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and “Live with Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest.” Days later, Gossip Cop broke the news that Shelton was selected by People as the 2017 Sexiest Man Alive.

Shelton’s Sexiest Man title was officially unveiled on an episode of “The Voice” exactly two weeks ago. The singer did the big reveal by teasing close pal Adam Levine, who himself was named the Sexiest Man Alive by the magazine a few years ago. The longtime friends have quite the rapport, with fans nicknaming them “Shevine.” Their faux rivalry took a turn this month when Texoma Shore came out on the same day as Maroon 5’s Red Pill Blues.

The two made a bet as to who would sell more records in the first week of sales. Maroon 5’s album ended up out-pacing Shelton’s effort, landing at number two on the Billboard list. In honor of his victory, Shelton amusingly had to refer to Levine as “the greatest there ever was” during a live episode of “The Voice” last week. And, of course, the pair are still competing over who has the better team on the music show, as per usual.

Going forward, both will be back for season 14 next year, but more immediately, Shelton will appear next month on Stefani’s NBC holiday special, on which they’ll perform their duet, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas.” Interestingly, it was Hudson with whom Shelton performed tonight, after it was falsely claimed they were feuding on “The Voice” set.
