Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani's visit to a Los Angeles church on Mother's Day exposed how HollywoodLife completely fabricated an article last week about how the two were going to spend the Sunday devoted to moms. At the time, the website often referred to as HollywoodLies maintained that Shelton was going to surprise Stefani for the "special day," and it would "involve a trip." But Gossip Cop fact-checked the claim with a number of insiders connected to both singers, as well as with her rep, and we rightly reported then the outlet's story was not true.
Now that the holiday is over, it's clear from photos of Shelton, Stefani and her kids leaving a Mother's Day mass in L.A. that there was no trip other than to their church that they regularly attend. Among the manufactured assertions from HollywoodLies was that Shelton was keeping their "Mother's Day plans a secret," but that they'd be taking "a trip," and while Stefani had "no idea where... it will be somewhere country." The site's fake insider reiterated that Mother's Day was going to be a time for Stefani "to relax with her boys in nature."
Here's what happened: HollywoodLies seemingly has no real sources close to the singers and was simply taking a guess. In this particular instance, since Shelton, Stefani and her kids were at Yosemite last Mother's Day, and they often travel to his ranch in Oklahoma, the often discredited blog rolled the diced and hoped they'd land "somewhere country." But they didn't. And contrary to the site's supposed source asserting that Shelton had "something even better up his sleeve" for this year, he actually rolled them down, and threw a blazer over them, to simply attend church in L.A.
When Gossip Cop debunked the claim last week, a Shelton insider told us he wasn't going to venture outside of L.A. because he's slated to appear on Monday's live taping of "The Voice." Meanwhile, Stefani's rep assured us that HollywoodLife was making up fake news, as it as done before about her. Her spokesperson further noted that no one close to Stefani would share anything about her personal life with that blog.
Curiously, in a new article published on Sunday about the holiday, HollywoodLies makes no mention about it falsely reporting days ago how Shelton was whisking away Stefani for a Mother's Day "trip." It just notes that they went to church, which the website learned by buying paparazzi pictures of them leaving their house of worship. The outlet tends to manufacture news about the couple related to holidays, but it's repeatedly wrong, like when it fibbed about Shelton going to propose to Stefani on Valentine's Day. As Gossip Cop has often stated, time always reveals which sites tells the truth, and which traffic in lies.
