Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are not “ready to get hitched,” contrary to a report that’s both late and wrong. In fact, this story is filled with provable falsehoods. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
According to The Hollywood Gossip, the “hunt for clues that the singers are getting ready to wed is never-ending,” but Shelton has now “taken an important step toward proposing to Stefani.” Picking up a bogus Celebrity Insider article about Shelton and Stefani being “ready to wed,” the site claims the country superstar is converting to Catholicism to please his bride-to-be. “And that’s not the only major change Blake has reportedly made in his lifestyle in recent weeks,” contends the blog.
The website alleges Stefani has “asked her future husband to quit the activity he’s most famous for aside from singing so that he can be an ideal stepfather to her three kids.” That’s said to be drinking alcohol. “Shelton’s booze consumption is a significant part of his persona, but the source says he was happy to put the plug in the jug for good when Gwen asked him to,” claims the outlet, which further speculates, “So it’s sounding more and more like Gwen and Blake are getting their ducks in a row for the day fans have been anticipating for years.”
But after all that, the online publication adds that it actually “looks as though the wait isn’t over quite yet” because “the source when asked when Blake and Gwen plan to exchange vows” said, “I don’t think it’s anytime soon or anything.” Had The Hollywood Gossip done some research, however, it would’ve learned that that statement didn’t come from some unnamed “source” but from Shelton himself. He publicly made the remark in a recent interview in which Shelton spoke about possibly marrying Stefani.
Similarly, had the site bothered to fact-check these contentions, it would’ve realized that the claims he is no longer drinking are utterly untrue. Shelton posted photos on Instagram and Twitter only days ago that show him drinking, notably with Stefani by his side. Additionally, the blog apparently doesn’t realize that “Entertainment Tonight” specifically reported in March that Stefani and Shelton are “not ready” to get married, and explained that “heading down the aisle isn’t a big priority” for the couple.
So, here’s what’s really going on: The National Enquirer and RadarOnline, which are sister outlets, were the first to wrongly allege Stefani had asked Shelton to convert to Catholicism in order for them to be married. Gossip Cop corrected the fabricated stories with help from her spokesperson. No matter, Celebrity Insider later regurgitated the untrue claims. And now The Hollywood Gossip is shamefully doing the same. If only the website copied the readily available truth instead of the fiction, the internet wouldn’t be flooded with so much fake news.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
