The past year finally came to a close this week, and with it came fireworks and resolutions galore. The past year's been rife with celebrity relationships and news. Conspicuously absent from this year's happenings, however, was the predicted wedding of Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani.

Exactly twelve months ago, the blog HollywoodLife published an article claiming that Stefani and Shelton were going to wed sometime last year. According to the site and its anonymous source, the couple would tie the knot eventually, but they hadn't made any solid plans yet. The source added that neither star had "any real desire to get married" and weren't in a "rush to marry anytime soon."

Still, the site and its source baselessly speculated that the two would have a wedding before the year was over. The year has completely passed, and Gossip Cop's initial dismissal of the blog's claim has been proven correct. While it does seem true that the couple isn't in a rush, it's obvious that the site had no real insight into the two's actual plans.

As we pointed out at the time, HollywoodLife had published multiple pieces in 2018 about the couple marrying and splitting and had a terrible track record with the two. A prime example of this would be our June 2018 bust of another marriage claim from the blog. HollywoodLife falsely asserted that Shelton and Stefani were secretly planning a summer wedding. Gossip Cop completely debunked that claim, just as we busted the 2019 marriage story.

Additionally, we reached out to Stefani's official spokesperson rather than rely on an unidentifiable source. They told us on the record that the singer was not engaged or planning to marry that year. Unsurprisingly, our official source was more truthful than the site's anonymous one.

That being said, Stefani and Shelton shared an incredibly successful year together. Their duet debuted at number nine on Billboard's Hot Country Songs. Shelton's latest album, Fully Loaded: God's Country, hit number one on the Billboard Top Country Album chart. Both stars supported one another after they both lost to Kelly Clarkson on the latest season of The Voice. The couple's relationship seems to be stronger than ever, regardless of whether or not they've got a marriage certificate.

Fortunately, it seems like HollywoodLife has cleaned up its act and stopped using tabloid lies as stories. Gossip Cop hasn't had to bust any rumors from the outlet for most of 2019. Here's hoping that the trend continues into 2020.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
