Are Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani adopting a two-year-old orphan girl? That's the claim in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop has learned the truth.
According to the Globe, which falsely claimed last month that Shelton and Stefani got married in Reno, the couple plans to start their own family by adopting a little girl. A supposed source tells the magazine, "They are so excited and have begun the private adoption process. They plan on making her a permanent part of their family after the new year. They can't wait to bring her home!"
The magazine doesn't provide any real details about the alleged adoption, such as where and how they found the two-year-old girl they plan on giving a home. Still, the suspicious insider goes on to say that Stefani's three sons "are overjoyed by the idea of a kid sister, and both Gwen and Blake are breathing a sigh of relief. They wouldn't have done it without their approval. So now they're hurrying to making this adoption final."
The seemingly phony tipster further contends that Shelton and Stefani "had been trying to have a baby of their own," but after a string of failed IVF treatments, "Gwen really doesn't want to put her body through that again." The "insider" also claims the singer "was considering using a surrogate but changed her mind" and "decided that adoption was the best way to go." The so-called "source" concludes, "Now they're fixing up a room for the little girl they want to adopt and getting everything ready for their new baby girl."
This storyline is coming from an anonymous and untraceable "source," but Gossip Cop reached out to Stefani's rep, who tells us on the record that she and Shelton aren't adopting a little girl. As noted above, we already busted the magazine for wrongly reporting that the couple secretly tied the knot in Nevada. Just this week, Stefani confirmed that she and Shelton aren't engaged. Obviously, the magazine has zero insight into the couple's relationship.
Additionally, the Globe has a habit of contradicting itself. In July, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for alleging Stefani feared that Shelton was "too unhealthy" to raise a baby with her. That article claimed the singer thought her boyfriend was too out of shape to be a hands-on dad. This latest story, however, says the couple had been trying to conceive a child for a while, and finally decided to adopt. In addition to the tabloid's stories being inaccurate, they aren't consistent.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
