Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell are not engaged, despite yet another false report that promises to give details of their "dream wedding." Gossip Cop can correct this completely inaccurate claim. We're told it's all "fabricated."
According to the Australian tabloid, New Idea, Powell "got down on bended knee on December 11, asking Bindi to be his bride after asking mum Terri for her blessing." The magazine contends a "source at the Queensland zoo" told the publication, "The buzz... is that a big wedding is on the way." The same alleged insider adds, "Everyone is really excited."
"Maybe they'll get the animals involved or even open it up to the general public," speculates the tipster. "Bindi and Chandler have so many fans around the country, it would be a really special way to celebrate their wedding in front of all the people that have watched her grow up before their eyes," continues the supposed "source."
After noting that Irwin posted a throwback photo on Instagram on December 11 that included the caption, "I am so glad we found each other in this great big world. I love you," the outlet asserts that fans commented about how the two should "just get married already." It appears that post may have sparked either the creative writers at New Idea or a creative "source" to come up with the "engaged" claim.
The alleged "source" is then later quoted as saying, "Terri is over the moon that Chandler has finally proposed." "While Bindi is still quite young," continues the purported snitch, "[Terri] can see how in love they are and has always believed that she is mature beyond her years, so they have her absolute blessing."
The rest of the magazine's article is filled with loving remarks Irwin and Powell have publicly made about one another. One thing that's missing from the story, however, is the truth. Gossip Cop fact-checked the tabloid's claim, which the Daily Mail initially didn't for its article that exclaimed the two were "engaged" and that he "proposed last week." Regardless, we're the tales are untrue. A spokesperson for the zoo and Irwin tells us, "Bindi and Chandler are not engaged. This is another fabricated tabloid report."
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
