Did Miley Cyrus choose her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, to serve as an advisor on “The Voice” only because he begged her to be on the show? That’s the ridiculous claim in one of this week’s new tabloids, but Gossip Cop has the truth.

It was recently announced that Billy Ray would help coach his daughter’s team on the upcoming season of the NBC reality competition series, but the National Enquirer is now claiming the country star wasn’t Miley’s first choice. A supposed “source” tells the magazine, “Billy made it clear that having him on the number-one music show on TV would be good for his career, and Miley just couldn’t say no.”

The outlet’s dubious insider goes on to note that Joe Jonas will team up with coach Adam Levine, Rascal Flatts will help Blake Shelton, and Kelly Rowland will assist Jennifer Hudson, but Miley “is stuck with her dad.” The “source” adds, “Making him happy is more important to her than winning. She’s a great daughter and family is everything to her.”

But that last comment about the singer being a “great daughter” and valuing her family is the only aspect of this story that’s remotely factual. Gossip Cop is assured by a rep for Billy Ray that the tabloid’s accusation he solicited his daughter to be on the NBC show is simply “untrue.” We’re further told, “Billy Ray Cyrus has a strong relationship with his daughters. He supports them and all of their endeavors. He was honored when Miley asked him to be an advisor on ‘The Voice.'”

Last month, Gossip Cop had to call out the Enquirer after it published a phony story about Billy Ray acting like “diva” at “The Wendy Williams Show.” As for previous bogus reports about “The Voice,” we busted the magazine last year when it concocted a fake feud between Miley and fellow coach Levine. This latest article surrounding the singer’s involvement on the show is equally baseless.
