Billy Bush is not hosting a new show for The Hollywood Reporter, despite a claim. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust this story, which comes from the tabloids.
A headline in the new issue of OK! falsely announces, “Billy’s TV Comeback.” According to the tabloid, Bush has been “tapped to host a new (and as yet, unannounced) program created by the entertainment industry bible The Hollywood Reporter.” This supposed new gig would come “nine months after being dumped by ‘Today'” in the fallout of the scandal with the Donald Trump “Access Hollywood” tape.
“He had a number of options, but he loves the fact that he won’t be following in anybody’s footsteps with this show,” a so-called “insider” is quoted as saying. “[Billy] has high hopes for this new show.” And yet, suspiciously, the gossip magazine doesn’t seem to know any details about the project.
Is it for TV or the web? When will it launch? Will Bush be interviewing celebrities? And what were the “options” Bush turned down? The answers to these very valid questions don’t appear anywhere in the outlet’s story. On the contrary, the piece is incredibly vague. Sure, it’s said Bush is “once again ready for his close-up” and “beyond thrilled to getting his career back on track,” but it’s never explained exactly what all that will entail, aside from something supposedly involving The Hollywood Reporter.
Actually, Gossip Cop suspects the dubious publication only connected Bush to THR because the magazine recently ran a cover story about the TV personality, for which he was interviewed extensively. Published in May, the in-depth article featured Bush saying, “I plan to return to the job that I love, which is television, communicating, interviewing people. I have changed in a way that I think will make me better at my job..”
But that doesn’t mean he and The Hollywood Reporter are now partnering. Gossip Cop is exclusively told this story, quite simply, is “not true.” We also exclusively busted a Daily Mail report falsely claiming Bush will host “Top 30” on Fox. He’s not doing that, either. While the gossip media is apparently eager all of a sudden to announce his new gig, nothing has been finalized yet, contrary to these inaccurate reports.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
