Has production on season two of HBO’s “Big Little Lies” really been delayed because the cast is demanding more money to return? One of the tabloids is creating a lot of off-screen drama surrounding the hit series, but Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we’ve exclusively learned the truth.

It was announced last month that HBO is renewing “Big Little Lies” for a second season, with stars and executive producers Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman both confirmed to return. Supporting cast members Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoe Kravitz are also expected to join the follow-up. However, the Australian magazine NW now claims that the project has stalled over contract negotiations.

A so-called “source” tells the outlet that the several of the stars are battling with network executives over scoring bigger paydays for the second season. “For those working on the show, it feels like the actors have been throwing their weight around,” says the supposed insider. “But it’s quickly turning into more of a drama than the show itself.”

The outlet further purports that the show’s production start date has been pushed back due to the cast’s conflicting schedules. Witherspoon is more focused on her upcoming Apple series with Jennifer Aniston, according to the alleged insider, while Kidman is supposedly concerned with getting awards recognition for her crop of 2017 films. “[Executive producer] David E. Kelley is at a loss over what to do,” adds the dubious source. “It will be a miracle if they can make each star happy enough to get the cameras rolling in time.”

Gossip Cop, however, has learned that this is all inaccurate. The first installment of the show was a huge success, so the primary cast members will likely be getting raises, but that isn’t a point of contention for HBO. And although a production date has yet to be scheduled, spring 2018 is being eyed for the start of filming, prior to Witherspoon shooting her show with Aniston.

Regardless, an HBO insider exclusively tells Gossip Cop that the network is “moving full steam ahead” on season two, and there’s “no truth” to the claim otherwise. Additional sources connected to the series also assure us there are no salary disputes or scheduling conflicts threatening the production.
