“Big Little Lies” has not only become a favorite for fans of the TV show, but also for the tabloids. As a result, cast members Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, and Meryl Streep, have become the subject to several untrue feud rumors. Here a few wrong reports about the stars of “Big Little Lies” that Gossip Cop has debunked.

After the success of the first season of the HBO series, in February 2018 Life & Style reported how original cast members Shailene Woodley and Zoe Kravitz were worried when Meryl Streep joined the second season of “Big Little Lies” that they’d “be written out” of the series. The magazine contended the two younger (though central) characters felt that with “so much star wattage” already on the show, and Streep being added to the cast, there was “only so much screen time available” for them. At the time, Gossip Cop was assured by a production insider the claim was bogus, and of course Kravitz and Woodley are still on the program.

When shooting actually began on season two, Gossip Cop then had to bust an In Touch story that maintained Kidman and Streep were feuding on the “Big Little Lies” set, and that it got so intense, executives from HBO met to figure out how to fix it before it “really got out of hand.” Basically, the premise of that piece was that Kidman felt she was “the star of the show” and beginning to feel “threatened” by Streep’s presence. It was even alleged that other cast member began to side with Streep, and were looking to “push [Kidman] off the show.” While the tabloid’s tale was based entirely on remarks from an unnamed “source,” a rep for both Kidman and Streep said the report was made-up, and the two Oscar-winners have remained close friends to this day.

Two months after that, Gossip Cop corrected Woman’s Day when it published an absurd article about Kidman having been “dumped” by her “Big Little Lies” co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern. According to the magazine, after Dern and Witherspoon had dinner together in Los Angeles while Kidman was away promoting Aquaman, the Australian actress was “crushed” and felt “left out in the cold.” That too was nonsense, considering Kidman and Witherspoon went bowling without Dern, and there was no mention of her feeling “dumped.” More significantly, the three women often openly praise each other and their friendship on social media.

Just a couple of months ago, Gossip Cop called out Star for an article that falsely asserted Kidman and Witherspoon were competing for awards and the spotlight during the second season of “Big Little Lies.” The publication’s supposed source insisted that going into season two Witherspoon was “still bitter about all the praise Nicole received,” and was going to push for her own storyline on the show, as well as campaign to be nominated for best actress. In addition to not even being in contention for Emmy Awards this year, as noted before, both Kidman and Witherspoon routinely gush about the other on social media and in interviews.

And just earlier this month, Gossip Cop shot down an In Touch article that inaccurately alleged Witherspoon was jealous of Kidman’s friendship with Streep and felt like a “third wheel.” The outlet claimed that before Streep joined the cast for the second season, Witherspoon and Kidman “were the face of ‘Big Little Lies,’” but now “it’s all about Nicole and Meryl” and “Reese isn’t happy about it.” In addition to contradicting its earlier narrative about Kidman and Streep feuding (above), the latest story is clearly a fabrication, as evidenced by Witherspoon posting a photo on Instagram of her co-stars at this year’s premiere along with a caption that read, “The power of sisterhood and friendship is limitless.” Far from fighting with each other, the “Big Little Lies” co-stars are actually a close-knit group of friends.
