Beyonce and Jay-Z are fighting over where to raise their kids, according to a tabloid report about their "turf wars." Gossip Cop, however, can reveal the truth.
OK! alleges in its new issue, "It's an east versus west showdown. After shelling out a whopping $90 million on a new home in L.A.'s ritzy Bel Air neighborhood, friends say Beyonce is trying hard to convince her hubby Jay-Z that it's the best place to raise their three children. But it's not turning out to be the easiest sell" A so-called "friend" is quoted as saying, "Jay is as stubborn as they come."
"He's a born-and-bred New Yorker, it's where his business is, it's where his heart is. But Bey believes that New York, with all Jay's friends and hangers-on, is a distraction from their family," claims the tabloid's supposed source. And, adds the gossip magazine, Beyonce "may have a[n] extra incentive for wanting to stay close to Hollywood." Asserts the outlet's purported tipster, "She's achieved all the fame in the world as a singer, but she feels like she's never really shown her skills as an actress. She thinks the time is now."
But one needn't live near Hollywood to star in movies, and that certainly wasn't a requirement for Beyonce's role in Dreamgirls and other projects. And any future gigs won't be awarded simply because she's an L.A. resident. Furthermore, if Jay-Z is so "stubborn" and against living on the West Coast, why did he agree to buy their expensive new residence?
Curiously, the publication never explains that. So, allow Gossip Cop to reveal what's really going on: Beyonce and Jay-Z have agreed that daughter Blue Ivy will go to kindergarten in Los Angeles, so they decided to put down roots with a permanent home base. The tabloid is just trying to give the appearance of drama, even though it already knows the move is a done deal.
It's pretty easy to claim Jay-Z was against it and eventually gave in, but that doesn't mean this backstory is true. It was also untrue when the magazine claimed Beyonce and Jay-Z were buying Brad Pitt's Los Angeles house last year. Notably, nothing was said then about the rap mogul being against living in L.A. That same month, the outlet also ran a completely false story about Beyonce and Jay Z adopting. Of course, no adoption happened and the singer was actually already pregnant with her twins at the time that tale was published.
All this goes to show that OK! isn't very credible when it comes to reporting on the couple. What's more is that this new story isn't even original. The publication's online sister outlet, RadarOnline, similarly claimed back in January that Beyonce and Jay-Z had a "fight" over whether Blue Ivy would go to school in California or on the East Coast. But there was no real dispute back then, and there still isn't one now.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
