Beyonce is not reuniting with Destiny's Child at Coachella, despite speculation. After rumors spread across social media and online outlets, Gossip Cop can help set the record straight.

Among the places that have helped fuel such speculation is NME, which last month wrongly reported a non-existent Spice Girls reunion. Now the music publication has a headline on its website asking, "Are Destiny's Child reuniting for Coachella 2018?" According to the accompanying story, "Destiny's Child fans are convinced that the iconic girl group could be reuniting for Coachella 2018, after Beyonce and Michelle Williams appeared to drop several telling hints."

It's alleged the "rumor mill began whirring" because Beyonce is "known for subtly dropping hints online about what she's up to," and "fans believe that she's hinting at a Destiny's Child after posing for a photo in an AC/DC top — but with only the 'DC' letters on display." In addition, the article notes Williams "randomly posted a photo of the outfits worn during Destiny's Child brief reunion at Beyonce's Superbowl half time show in 2013." It's further claimed "the reunion could also see the return of original Destiny's Child member LaTavia Roberson," because she tweeted earlier this month, "I have so much to tell you guys! All I'm allowed to say right now is.. never mind."

"If the rumors prove to be, it seems that Coachella could prove to be the most likely place for their reunion," concludes the outlet. NME isn't the only place guilty of fanning the flames of these fan theories instead of fact-checking. Sites ranging from E! Online to HollywoodLife also ran with the speculation. And apparently they all did so wrongly.

TMZ is now reporting there are currently no plans for Beyonce to stage a Destiny's Child reunion at Coachella. The website stresses, "We're told Bey's dedicated fans are simply seeing what they want to see — but the fact is there is NO DC reunion in the works for Coachella." Of course, the music festival is still months away and it's possible things could change. As is well-known, Beyonce remains best friends with Williams and fellow original member Kelly Rowland. But it seems no one should get their hopes up. Gossip Cop will update if we hear differently.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
