Are Beyonce and Jay Z only opening up about his cheating scandal in their music to cash in on the controversy? One of this week’s tabloids claims the couple has a hidden agenda for using their art to discuss their relationship. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.

Beyonce first opened up about her husband’s infidelity in her 2016 visual album Lemonade, while Jay Z touched on his cheating in his latest album 4:44. A so-called “source” now tells In Touch that the spouses “are netting themselves millions from their strategic decision to open up about his cheating. Beyonce and Jay Z are no dummies.”

The outlet’s questionable insider adds, “Obviously Beyonce was furious about her husband’s behavior, but they’ve both decided to make the best of a bad situation and cash in on it.” However, the tabloid seemingly wrote this phony story to cash in on the recent release of the music video for the spouses’ new collaboration song “Family Feud,” in which the rapper confesses his sins to his wife.

In fact, Jay Z noted in a New York Times interview last year that he and Beyonce never made a conscious decision to talk about their marriage problems in their music. “It didn’t happen that way,” he said pointblank. On the contrary, Jay Z explained, “We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together.” “[I was] really proud of the music she made, and she was really proud of the art I released. And, you know, at the end of the day we really have a healthy respect for one another’s craft,” he added.

And while that undeniably proves the tabloid wrong, Gossip Cop still checked in with a mutual friend of ours and the couple and we’re assured that Beyonce and Jay Z aren’t looking to profit off their marital issues. Although that might be one of the results following the release of their albums, the superstar couple would have sold millions of records no matter what topics were covered in their music. In Touch, on the other hand, is very much exploiting the couple’s cheating scandal.
