Beyonce and Jay-Z did not divorce in 2019. A claim one year ago from a tabloid was false. Gossip Cop debunked the story at the time.
Twelve months ago, Star published a report alleging that superstars Beyonce and Jay-Z were getting a billion-dollar divorce. The piece focused on a bit of very old news that supposedly set Beyonce off and had her filing for a split. According to the unreliable outlet, Beyonce was upset about Jay-Z's so-called "love child," Rymir Satterthwaite. Satterthwaite claimed in 2015 that he was Jay-Z's son. The tabloid, more than three years later, decided it was a good time to invent a phony story around the claim.
"Bey's done her best to put on a brave face through all of the infidelity reports," the publication quoted a supposed source as saying, "but actually having a child with another woman is something no wife could ever get over." Divorce "may be the only way for her to find peace in life," the insider concluded. From there the tabloid asserted that Beyonce would be going for at least half of the couple's $1.2 billion. The so-called "source" said Beyonce was "going to make sure she gets the bigger piece of their brand's profit."
Gossip Cop called out the magazine for its poor reporting at the time. As we pointed out, the tabloid left out a few key details. The couple renewed their vows in 2018, well after the news of the "love child" broke and their rough patch after Jay-Z admitted to infidelity. In fact, this bogus report came at a time that was a clear high point in the couple's relationship. That high point continued through 2019. Look no further than Beyonce's Instagram account to see how much they care for each other and their children. The idea of a split at this time last year is laughable.
The music industry power couple's marriage is often in the tabloids. Gossip Cop has debunked many stories regarding the state of their marriage. This wasn't the first time Star has gone after them either. In October 2017, the outlet alleged Beyonce gave Jay-Z five marriage rules to follow if he wanted to remain married. That ridiculous story was as false as this one. We checked with our own source close to the couple who confirmed it at the time.
In fact, Star can't be trusted when it comes to anything Beyonce related. In a completely bizarre story last year, the publication claimed that Beyonce and Taylor Swift were headed for a "catfight" at the 2020 Oscars. The story, published 11 months before the event is scheduled to take place, pitted Beyonce against Swift as possible contenders for the Best Song category for The Lion King and Cats, respectively. Gossip Cop pointed out how silly it was to be making predictions about how the stars would react to each other if nominated. Besides, the two wouldn't even be competing in the same categories. It was simply a desperate attempt by the tabloid to connect two big stars for the sole purpose of selling papers. Ten months later, the story simply looks ridiculous.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
