Beyonce is not “steering Jay-Z away from acting” because she wants to keep him from being with actresses, despite a made-up claim. Gossip Cop can not only bust this manufactured story, but also reveal how the fake news came about.
Earlier this week, an interview was released in which Tiffany Haddish said she watched Beyonce intervene when an actress allegedly flirted with Jay-Z at a party. Because the comedienne’s anecdote was a hot topic online, HollywoodLife resorted to one of its typical tricks: It concocted a related story, complete with fake quotations, that it titled, “Beyonce Steering Jay-Z Away From Acting Dreams After She Catches Actress Touching His Chest.”
According to HollywoodLies, as it’s known, Beyonce is “not ready” for her husband to “start acting” because she supposedly doesn’t want him having a “love interest in a future project.” A so-called “source close to the couple” is quoted by the often disproven site as maintaining that the rap mogul “would love to step even more into acting,” but with his “wandering eye,” Beyonce “doesn’t want” him to have “options” in the form of on-screen romantic partners. The alleged snitch adds, “She’d rather have him stick to music because you can’t hook up with a microphone.”
Actually, there are plenty of hookups in the music industry. By the website’s logic, Jay-Z should never musically collaborate with another woman because there’s always a chance sparks could fly during that process, too. Of course, Jay-Z recently acted in his “Family Feud” music video, alongside Beyonce and a number of top actresses, like Jessica Chastain and Thandie Newton, and he didn’t leave his wife for them.
While HollywoodLies claims Jay-Z is “thinking about showcasing his talents in other things like acting,” he’s actually never expressed a serious interest in pursuing a leading role in movies or TV. His minor forays into acting have always been limited to music videos and the like, such as the short film “Run” that he made with his wife to promote their joint tour in 2014. That project also involved beautiful actresses, such as Emmy Rossum and Blake Lively, and Beyonce didn’t object to Jay-Z working with them, which goes directly against the claims being made.
Basically, HollywoodLies made-up its false narrative by piggy-backing off of Haddish’s comments. No real “source” close to the couple told the habitually discredited site anything about Beyonce “steering Jay-Z away from acting.” And Gossip Cop knows that because we’re told now on background, and have similarly been told countless times before, that no one in their inner circle leaks lies to blogs. Maybe it’s time for that outlet to steer away from publishing fake news and easily refuted claims.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
