Ben Affleck and Lindsay Shookus did not split, despite a new tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this claim, which wrongly alleges the couple's relationship is "over." We're told it's "not true."
According to the Australian edition of OK!, Affleck's "romance" with "Saturday Night Live" producer Shookus is "already faltering" after just six months of them being together. A so-called "source" is quoted as telling the gossip magazine, "They had a huge row last month and now it seems unlikely they'll go the distance. Things came to a head over Lindsay's sister's wedding - Ben had promised to go with her but then, at the last minute, he bailed."
The publication's questionable "insider" goes on to allege that Affleck's close friends didn't think the relationship would end well. "It doesn't seem Ben is ready for a big commitment. He is very open about the fact he feels like he has work to do on himself, and some friends feel he rushed into things with Lindsay," further contends the magazine's supposed tipster, before adding that Affleck's "on and off" split from Jennifer Garner "hasn't helped" the situation.
Let Gossip Cop set the record straight. A source close to the actor exclusively assures us the report is 100 percent "not true." Shookus and Affleck have not split. As for the tabloid's proverbial smoking gun about Affleck missing out on Shookus' sister's wedding, we're told he had a "long-standing family obligation" that same day and knew well in advance that he couldn't attend. Additionally, there was no "huge row," as maintained by the publication.
It's also worth noting that Affleck and Shookus were spotted kissing last week while shopping in a Christian Louboutin store in Los Angeles. And when they're not together on the West Coast, as widely reported, Affleck is renting a luxury apartment for them to share in New York. It seems the outlet was more focused on simply having an Affleck-Shookus "over" story than actually fact-checking its claims.
OK! has had a rather spotty record when it comes to articles about Affleck. Last year, for example, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid when it falsely reported Shookus was pregnant with Affleck's baby. At the time, the magazine wrongly contended the couple only went public with their relationship because she was expecting. Months later it's clear, as Gossip Cop claimed back then, that the outlet's story was a complete fabrication. We suspect it won't take more than a day or two for it to become obvious how off-base the publication is with its latest tale about Shookus and Affleck having split.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
