A new report claims the inner circle at “Saturday Night Live” aren’t fans of producer Lindsay Shookus‘ famous boyfriend Ben Affleck. The article says members of the sketch show’s cast and crew even “blasted” the actor at Sunday’s Emmy Awards. But Gossip Cop looked into the alleged drama and we’re exclusively assured it’s all fabricated.
The actor accompanied his girlfriend to the 2017 Emmys, where “SNL” won nine awards including Outstanding Variety Sketch Series, which Shookus helped accept on stage alongside the rest of the team. RadarOnline now contends the producer’s pals and colleagues aren’t impressed by her movie star boyfriend. A so-called “snitch” tells the site, “They are a tight bunch and it takes a long time for them to welcome a new person in. They have all known each other for years and admire talent and comedic skills above fame.”
The outlet’s dubious insider goes on to say Affleck tried to win over his girlfriend’s inner circle at the ceremony, but they all agree “he’s not funny.” The seemingly phony source continues, “All night long he was trying to crack jokes and show how smart he is. He needs to relax and just take a back seat. It’s wasn’t his night.” “He can’t make everything about him and expect this close group to welcome him in. They all love Lindsay but think she can do better,” adds the alleged insider.
The webloid’s questionable article doesn’t specifically mention which of Shookus’ “SNL” pals dislike Affleck, but those in attendance at the Emmys included cast members Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Colin Jost, Pete Davidson and boss Lorne Michaels. However, Gossip Cop checked in with an “SNL” insider about the accuracy of the site’s report, and we’re exclusively assured it’s “so not true.” Additionally, Affleck has had a great relationship with “SNL” since first hosting the show nearly 20 years ago. The actor is one of 19 guest hosts in the history of the series to be inducted into the “Five-Timers Club,” an elite group of celebrities who’ve hosted the show five times or more. Clearly, Affleck is well-respected at “SNL.”
Unfortunately, this wouldn’t be the first time Gossip Cop has had to call out RadarOnline for publishing a bogus story about the couple. We recently busted the site for falsely claiming Affleck forced Shookus to “get a makeover.” There was no truth to that report and the webloid’s latest article is equally untrue.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
