The tabloids have been targeting Ben Affleck since he first rose to fame more than 20 years ago. Unfortunately, the onslaught of fake news about the movie star is as rampant as ever. Gossip Cop now looks back at five recent wrong rumors about the actor.

In April, Gossip Cop busted NW for wrongly reporting that Affleck and Jennifer Garner were giving their marriage another shot. The unreliable magazine said the exes had decided to reconcile after spending quality time together with their kids. Soon after the bogus report was published, however, Affleck was spotted in Hawaii with girlfriend Lindsay Shookus. The "Saturday Night Live" producer also discussed her relationship with the actor in a recent interview with Elle.

Gossip Cop called out the National Enquirer in April for making up a story about Matt Damon dropping Affleck as his best friend and replacing him with Chris Hemsworth. Shortly after we debunked the story, Affleck retweeted our article and mocked the tabloid's ridiculous claims. "Hey @chrishemsworth, you can have him! I'm Team @JimmyKimmel anyways," he quipped. Meanwhile, E! News recently published an entire article dedicated to Affleck and Damon's enduring friendship.

In March, Woman's Day falsely claimed that Affleck had dumped Shookus and moved back in with Garner. Shortly after Gossip Cop corrected the story, the actor and his girlfriend were spotted holding hands while on vacation in Hawaii. The following month, Affleck purchased a home in the Pacific Palisades. Basically, time definitively proved that both aspects of the tabloid's report were fabricated.

Gossip Cop busted the Enquirer in February for concocting a provably false story about Affleck quitting Hollywood and moving to a farm in upstate New York. In addition to him buying a house in L.A. a short time later, Affleck also started filming the upcoming Netflix movie Triple Frontier in Hawaii. Meanwhile, the actor is also developing a number of projects through his production company, Pearl Street Films.

And finally, RadarOnline baselessly speculated in January that Affleck could be facing brain damage after getting into a minor motorcycle crash. The actor had simply tumbled off onto a curb without sustaining any injuries, but the unreliable blog completely sensationalized the fender bender. Obviously, the actor is in perfectly fine health and isn't suffering from a head injury. Affleck has also been spotted back on his motorcycle several times since January.

These are just a few of the countless wrong rumors published about Affleck in recent months. Unfortunately, we suspect the false tabloid stories about the actor will keep coming. As always, Gossip Cop will separate fact from fiction.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
