Ben Affleck is not proposing or planning a wedding, and Lindsay Shookus is not pregnant, despite claims from a blog. Both allegations are completely unsubstantiated and untrue. Gossip Cop can bust them.
As many outlets reported, Affleck had dinner with Shookus and her parents on Saturday. They were also all seen hiking together on Sunday, joined by the "SNL" producer's daughter. X17 is using the two outings to sell falsehoods about the couple's relationship, beginning its story by asserting, "Ben Affleck and his possibly-pregnant girlfriend Lindsay Shookus are taking their relationship to the next level!" The site gives no reason why it thinks Shookus is "possibly pregnant," and has no proof to back that assertion up. In fact, nothing is mentioned in the rest of the story about her "possibly" expecting, aside from the contention that Affleck would "have his hands full if Lindsay is, in fact pregnant."
Then, after mentioned Affleck's dinner with Shookus' mom and dad, the website wonders, "Is he preparing to ask for her hand in marriage???!!!" Because the outlet, which is run by a paparazzi agency, has no actual evidence that the actor is getting ready to propose, it concludes by asking readers, "What's next for Ben and Lindsay?" The options in its poll are "baby," "marriage," "shacking up," and "all of the above." But had the blog actually done some research, it would've been able to share facts instead of guesses, theories and questions.
For starters, they are not having a baby, but do "shack up" sometimes. In its story about Affleck and Shookus going on a double date with her parents, E! Online noted that everyone is staying at his Pacific Palisades home, and reported that Shookus was drinking wine with her meal. Additionally, last week "Entertainment Tonight" reported that Affleck and Shookus are not taking the marriage plunge in the near future. On top of the Oscar winner still being legally wed to Jennifer Garner, it was specifically stressed, "Ben isn't ready to propose and has no plans to get engaged anytime soon."
That backs up a People report from March, in which it was said Affleck and Shookus are "very much still together, but "not rushing anything." That they had dinner with her parents and went hiking is not proof otherwise. Plenty of couples spend time with each other's families without tying the knot or having a baby together.
Simply, because X17's photographers captured Affleck and Shookus stepping out on the two occasions, the site decided to manufacture a narrative. The website did the same thing last fall, when it claimed Affleck was using a therapy dog just because he was seen out with a canine. Gossip Cop, however, investigated and learned that the pooch was a stray that Affleck had rescued more than a month prior. Had the outlet fact-checked as we did, it could've learned all of this. Celebrity Insider should heed this advice as well, as that blog is currently wrongly announcing in a headline, "Ben Affleck And Lindsay Shookus Reportedly Pregnant And Planning A Wedding."
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
