Ben Affleck is not asking Jennifer Garner to "get back together," contrary to a report from the tabloids. Gossip Cop has learned this story is laughably wrong.
A headline in the current issue of Life & Style announces, "After Vacation In Paradise... Ben To Jen: Let's Get Back Together." The tabloid reports the estranged spouses, who filed for divorce earlier this year, recently took a trip to the Bahamas with their three children. "And now after being so happy back together" on the vacation, "Ben is pushing for an official reconciliation," contends the gossip magazine.
"Ben asked Jen to call off the divorce," a so-called "insider" is quoted as saying. "He never wanted to split and hopes Jen will realize what a great time they had on vacation and want to move forward together." The outlet, however, asserts Garner "isn't ready to jump back into married life" because she "can't get past the years she spent coping with his partying and gambling."
Nevertheless, Affleck remains persistent and hopeful, insists the publication's supposed source. "The divorce isn't finalized yet. Ben isn't going down without a fight," the alleged tipster maintains. But this "insider" can't possibly be in-the-know, because if she or he truly was, the source would know that Affleck has actually moved on.
As Gossip Cop has confirmed, Affleck is currently dating Linday Shookus, a producer on "Saturday Night Live." While the relationship is in its early stages, the actor is keen on pursuing the new romance. He is not, as Life & Style claims, begging Garner to "get back together." It is true they took a family vacation, but that is simply because they admirably remain committed to co-parenting. The trip had nothing to do with a romantic reconciliation.
But it's not surprising in the least that the tabloid got this story so wrong. The magazine has consistently published falsehoods about the former couple since they separated more than two years ago. Among those tall tales was an April story that inaccurately claimed Garner and Affleck were renewing their vows. Gossip Cop rightly busted that fabrication at the time, and they ended up filing for divorce days later. Time will show we're right here, too.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
