Has Ben Affleck decided to move to a farm with animals and leave show business behind? One of the celebrity magazines made that claim exactly one year ago today, and clearly it wasn’t true. Gossip Cop said it was a complete falsehood back then, and time has proven us right.

On February 22, 2018, the National Enquirer insisted Affleck was giving up directing and acting for a simpler life on a farm. To make it seem like its story was legitimate, the supermarket tabloid alleged it had an Affleck source who maintained he wanted to distance himself from the “temptations of Hollywood” and lead a “less stressful” existence on a farm with a “few animals” in upstate New York. Throughout its article, the outlet reiterated Affleck was ready to ditch Hollywood for a more “laid-back life.”

Gossip Cop was assured 12 months ago by an Affleck insider that the tabloid’s story was entirely untrue, and obviously he hasn’t relocated to a farm on the East Coast. Actually, it was reported a couple of months later that Affleck bought a mansion in Pacific Palisades close to the home he previously shared with Jennifer Garner. As we were told last year, he’s never had any desire to move 2,400 miles away from his three children or to stop working in the entertainment business.

Over the past 365 days, the magazine has not become any more accurate since wrongly reporting Affleck was quitting Hollywood. For example, Gossip Cop busted the Enquirer when it swore up and down Affleck was going to marry while in rehab a woman named Shauna Sexton, a model with whom he had a brief fling. Once again, the outlet employed an anonymous “insider” to push its false narrative about the actor wanting to fast-track his divorce so he could make Sexton “the next Mrs. Affleck as soon as possible.”

And not too long ago, Gossip Cop exposed the same publication after it concocted another phony report about how Affleck wanted Jennifer Lopez back, even though she’s very much with Alex Rodriguez. In that fabricated article, the magazine asserted that as soon as he got out of rehab (where he didn’t marry Sexton), Affleck contacted his ex-fiancee, but she had no interest in rekindling. The truth is that following treatment, Affleck has been less interested in dating than he has been on his sobriety, family, and career.

In fact, far from leaving Hollywood to live on a farm, he’s shot three movies since that inaccurate report came out last year. A quick scan of Affleck’s IMDb page shows he filmed Triple Frontier with Charlie Hunnam and Garrett Hedlund, Torrance, and The Last Thing He Wanted with Anne Hathaway. And he’s next slated to direct, produce and star in Witness For The Prosecution.

Gossip Cop revisits articles from the year before because, while those magazines seemingly don’t care that they’ve published lies, we feel readers should be equipped with as much information as possible when deciding who they can and cannot trust. When an outlet has printed several fictitious stories over the course of a calendar year, it should be factored into how reliable its latest report is. In this particular instance, it should be obvious the tabloid’s tale was filled with more manure than on the farm Affleck never moved to.
